thing is its kinda sad that he doesnt play, cuz it was his dream to be a redskin, being from the area. i think he would be very loyal to the organization if he were to ever blossom into anything, keep him on the practice squad.

I like the idea of having a QB on the practice squad... Just not sure that they couldn't find a better project after the cuts.

Hamdan is a major project, I don't see Gibbs keeping him around to develop, not when he has Ramsey and Hasselbeck to tutor behind Brunell.

He's been playing with NFL Europe, but not sure how well he was doing...? He's young & Spurriers product. I don't see Gibbs giving him much of a look. He might just use Gibrans spot for a backup O-linemen or D-back..?

I don't see them keeping Gibran

But he is a hometown boy. Gibbs likes those local kids. And Gibbs likes those strong arms. Maybe he'll stay? (I doubt it, but what the hey...)

I go strongly against the majority of you on this one. Not room on the PS?? Sure there is. There are very few guys on the roster that even qualify for the squad. Costs Gibbs nothing to put him there. And almost every team will have a QB on their PS. Gibbs will not be an exception. Hamdan's limited duty in Europe showed well for him. The reason he has not had game time is that there is so MUCH for the other 3 guys to learn and so much evaluation to be done. The only way he WON'T be on the PS is if they find what they feel is a stronger prospect for it.

After this next game, I'm sure we'll see Ade go for the Aug 31st cuts.

If Hamdan had any chance of making this team he would have taken a few snaps in the fourth quarter of one of these games already.

Can someone explain how the practice squad works, who you can put on it, and what the ramifications are? Thanks.

I do not have the final NFL Europe stats here - and I'm too lazy to go and look them up - but halfway through the season over there, Hamdan's QB Rating was about 70. Sorry folks, that is not something so stunning that it jumps off the pages of his resume and demands that he be noticed. If the Skins starting QB/QBs have ratings anywhere near 70 this year, look for another 5-11 season!!

Hamdan's only real shot at staying here is to be on the practice squad. However, there is a rule about how many years a team can keep him on the practice squad and this would be his second year on the Skins' squad. I THINK that two is the limit, but I'm only 90% sure of that. If that is the limit, Gibbs would have to think he could make the jump to the real squad next year or else there is no real purpose in keeping him on the practice squad.

Anyone out there know the rules about practice squads spelled out in the collective bargaining agreement?
