I know two guys. Hall and Novak, but I don't want either!

Re: Novak Is Not The Answer!

He missed the kick with 30 seconds left and I walked out into the garage, where I had been working on something. I came back in maybe 2 or 3 minutes later expecting to watch overtime and my wife yelled to me, THE REDSKINS WON!

I said "HOW?!?!?! NO THEY DIDN'T! I JUST SAW THEM BLOW IT!"

She told me they kicked a field goal. I said, "yeah and they missed it!". She reenacted it for me with the pole in the middle of our family room/former basement where the big screen is. I said "are you SURE it wasn't the Cowboys?"

Then the commercials ended and I saw the crazy replays. I missed a lot in that 2 minutes!

...

So anyways...Novak IS better than Hall distance-wise. He's an upgrade but not completely an answer. I'll still take a guy who can hit a 47-yarder with no time left on the clock over a guy who can't make a 35-yarder to save his own life.

Brown is probably the best kicker on the market next off season, so he gets a mention. Team’s looking for a proven leg will make an offer, but I don’t see Brown going anywhere.

Other Free Agent Kickers

Rian Lindell, UFA, Buffalo Bills
Josh Scobee, RFA, Jacksonville Jaguars
Lawrence Tynes, RFA, Kansas City Chiefs

2007 NFL Free Agent K

Brown is very good, but other than that, not much to get terribly excited about...
Maybe Hall will get healthy over the offseason. HA HA HA

I like Scobee.

Brown has a very strong leg but isn't the most accurate kicker and has been getting a lot of kicks blocked this year. Tynes is nice but Scobe and Lindell are up and down.

Re: Novak Is Not The Answer!

hes got until the end of the season id think to win this job, otherwise he is gone. he definitely has to get more consistent, but he is a very young kicker and it would be nice if he could develop into a dependable guy. we have yet to see that though

Re: Novak Is Not The Answer!

Im up for using a relatively decent draft pick on one.

If we had it, Id go 3rd/4th round if there was a very solid prospect. Otherwise, go after an UFA.

Brandon pace has been very reliable for VT for the last few years, and has great range. Maybe he will be around at the end of the draft.

hes been good this year, but he has the tendency to miss big fg's (auburn game 20 yard fg missed...missing others)

Is Hall done for the year or can he come back at some point I just do not think Novak is that good and we just can't rely on them for kicking FG>
That thought makes me want to vomit...John Hall lost the conference championship for us...He lost the Minnesota game for us...He sucks balls! Novak has done way more for us than any kicker since Chip Lohmiller

Are we really comparing the merits of John Hall and Nick Novak?

If the front office had any brains this would have been dealt with over the off-season.

Adam Archuletta or Vinatieri.... Let's take the undersized linebacker with no cover skills and we will pay him more money than any safety in the history of the league!

Re: Novak Is Not The Answer!

hall and novak both gotta go. hall ain't healthy and novak ain't meant for the NFL. I doubt we'll be able to draft crosby (who's the best upcoming kicker in years), but boy would it be nice. too bad we didn't get longwell when we had the chance.

Re: Novak Is Not The Answer!

yes this should have been addressed in the offseason, but this regime has shown a tendency to overlook the obvious, novak will probably be here next yr unless he just stinks it up completely the rest of the year
