Re: defense
Anyone else think some of the defensive players are mailing it in? Holdman? Daniels? Wynn? Rogers? Archuletta?

The bigger problem is the philosophy of ignoring the draft and building through high priced free agency. There's no cap space to have effective depth, and that's coming home to roost. |

Re: defense
Archuleta looks worse and worse every game. Whether it's making poor half assed attempts at tackles, or getting burned on the deep ball, we really made a bad move there. I think we should cut our losses with him at the end of the season, because teams are picking on him like crazy and he's not stopping them.

Re: defense
Archuleta????? How about Carlos Rogers? That guy is one of the worst cover corners in football right now. He is consistently beaten every game and when something is within his grasp he can't catch it. Horrible....and yes he was a draft pick and that didn't work either!!!!
Frustrating, and I am just glad I am not the one that has to try and fix this HUGE mess. It's gonna get worse before it gets better.

Matty, I just got home from the game and the best thing about this game was the weather. Watching Travis Henry run today reminded me of the last time we saw him he was with Buffalo, and he did the same thing to us. We really had a tough time with him today. On the other hand, there are stretches in games where this offense just kills the defense (as bad as it is) they don't make enough plays on a consistent basis to rest the defense. The offense should protect the defense, but this team does not do that, maybe it helps explain why the defense plays so uninspired. |

Re: defense
Rogers has no ball awareness whatsoever right now. Even when his coverage is tight, he never gets his head around in time to make a play on the ball. He still needs alot of work.

Re: defense
Griffin being out today hurt bad. Henry ran between the tackles and had too many 8 yard runs on 1st down. Holdman got used and Marshall rarely met Henry at the hole. Amazing how far this defense has fallen off in three years. From top 5 to top 10 to ???(bottom 10?5?)

Re: defense
Williams' blitzes get picked up like a slutty college chick. I've never seen so many white jerseys go crashing in on a blitz only to not see a single one emerge on the other side of the line.
The rest of the NFL has us figured out, plain and simple.

Re: defense
Ooh, and Vince Young got his first career win against us. That's a nice honor to have.
And a winless team got their first win of the season too. It's so nice to help other people out.

But SouperMeister said it best -- this is what you get when the front office ignores the defensive line year after year. Throwing together other teams' rejects, has-beens, and a few high priced free agents every two or three years gets you what you saw today. They seem totally content with signing the Brandon Nobles, the Renaldo Wynns, the Philip Daniels -- eventually, the one guy they were right about, Cornelius Griffin, was going to need help. Can't stop the run, can't pressure the quarterback, and the secondary can't cover anyone. This was bound to happen. |

Re: defense
yeah I'm extremely disappointed with our defense. I have no Idea how we got so fucking bad. I just don't get it, but if GW wants a real shot at running our team... or any other team at the end of his tenure he has to right the ship. I dont give afuck if all of our starters go down, you have to STOP THE RUN. We cannot do that we will never win.
Once TN had the ball with 4 mins, I knew it was over, because they had all of the time and can control us... we held them to a field goal, and I thought we had a shot, but you know the rest. I'm anxious to see if Gibbs even addresses the QB situation this week, or if he crawfishes... He was quick to Jerk Ramsey, for not making good decisions, but if all of the TN defenders had stick-um on their hands today they would've had 8 picks. No lie... We were lucky it was as close as it was.
