Rate this draft:

I picked 10th in a 10 man league, so no LJ for me:
1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, 6 bench

Round - Player (Position)
1. Steven Jackson (RB)
2. Lamont Jordan (RB)
3. Reggie Wayne (WR)
4. Javon Walker (WR)
5. Donald Driver (WR)
6. Tatum Bell (RB)
7. Deangelo Williams (RB)
8. Joseph Addai (RB)
9. Eddie Kennison (WR)
10. Trent Green (QB)
11. Jake Plummer (QB)
12. Chris Cooley (TE)
13. Chad Jackson (WR)
14. Neil Rackers (K)
15. Washington (DEF)

my WR depth is a little flaky and neither QB throws a ton a TDs (hoping javon walker helps plummer a bit and that lelie stops crying too). I think I nailed RB the best i could without having a top 9 pick.

That guy, you have helped me with my draft thoughts in the past, so I'll give you my two cents on yours. First, I am very interested in you draft because I too am picking 10th in a 10 man league, however we have keepers, so guys like Steven Jackson are already off my board. But I love his upside this year. He could very easily end up being a top 5 RB I think. You drafted very well for upside, which I hope to do as well. I like your WR's (they all could easily do better than they did last year). I like Tatum Bell, and I hope to get Joseph Addai in my draft. Overall you have a very Well rounded team that should be able to weather injuries very well, which is important. You also have several players with significant "upside".

Could you put the draft round numbers by these picks? I am curious as to where you drafted whom.

Re: Rate this draft:

It looks to me like he did list it by round. Although I am surprised that Cooley was taken way back in the 12th. I also think that Jackson and Jordan are both slightly better than #10 and #11 so those to two to me are steals.

That Guy, any chance you can post your other teams draft list? Overall, I'd say you hit a homerun but the name of the game is comparison.

Re: Rate this draft:

sure, two were auto drafts, 2 eagles fans, a giant fan, 4 of unknown affiliation.

cooley is underrated HEAVILY. if you're not with skins fans, he goes around the 10th. derrick mason is also underrated pretty badly, though he goes in the 5th-6th area.

Re: Rate this draft:

I find it very interesting that you could get two pretty good quality QBs sooooooooooo late. I am wondering how high P.Manning and Tom Brady went, because while there is a drop off from Manning to T. Green or Plummer, It is not a whole lot, and you were able to wait until rounds 10 and 11 to get them. Great!

Re: Rate this draft:

the difference between them is about 7-10 TDs. manning went #6, palmer and brady in the 3rd, daunte and most others before the 5th (bledsoe, delhomme, etc). the drop off in QBs isn't nearly as bad as RBs or even WRs (though 4 (manning, palmer, bledsoe, and brady) are clearly above the rest). there are just 12-14 decent QBs and most won't waste a 9th on their backup with RB and WR depth to fill. everyone else had a qb by round 5 or 6.

Re: Rate this draft:

Round - Player (Position)
1. Steven Jackson (RB)
2. Lamont Jordan (RB)
3. Reggie Wayne (WR)
4. Javon Walker (WR)
5. Donald Driver (WR)
6. Tatum Bell (RB)
7. Deangelo Williams (RB)
8. Joseph Addai (RB)
9. Eddie Kennison (WR)
10. Trent Green (QB)
11. Jake Plummer (QB)
12. Chris Cooley (TE)
13. Chad Jackson (WR)
14. Neil Rackers (K)
15. Washington (DEF)

QB = Trent Green is usually one of the best QBs, usually underrated too. It'll be interesting to see how losing Saunders effects KC, but he should still be good. Plummer is a good BACKUP. I wouldn't trust him to start but you picked a great backup.
QB GRADE = A

RB = I'm really high on S. Jackson, especially with Faulk not being around to steal 3rd-down plays from him. Lamont Jordan is not bad and if he's the best that was available...ok. Oakland as a team isn't dependable for fantasy purposes. They'll need Jordan to suceed though, since their QB situation is horrible. Tatum Bell could end up being better than Jordan, so he's a solid pick, especially in the 6th round. Addai is a big unknown. Williams is a good risk to take for a rookie RB. He should be better than Reggie Bush.
RB GRADE = B

WR = I actually think you have a GREAT group of WRs. Wayne is one of the best and could be better without a great running game in Indy, they may have to pass more. Walker is good and will outplay Lelie by far in Denver. Driver is good when healthy even though his team is bad. Kennison is a great 4th WR and you could probably use him as a #3. Chad Jackson is big, fast and plays for New England. They usually have too many WRs for anyone other than Branch to put up big numbers, but this could be a benefit for a rookie because he may see MORE looks since they spread the ball around so much. WR is the toughest position to get consistency. With RBs, you know they'll carry the ball and QBs handle the ball on every play, but WRs never know how many looks they'll get. There are very few WRs you can count on week-to-week and you found some of them. Good job.
WR GRADE = A

TE = Cooley is one who gets a LOT of looks in the red zone. We'll have to see how his production is affected by not being the 2nd-choice by Brunell this year, but he should be good. Spreading the field out so much by the Smurfs of 2006 might leave him wide open. Finding him so late in the draft is a steal though. I'm guessing all teams waited to get a TE with possibly Gates/Gonzales/McMichael being the usual exceptions.
TE GRADE = B

DEF = You have one of the best.
DEF GRADE = A

K = You have THE best fantasy kicker. If you haven't had Rackers before, you're in for a treat, especially if longer kicks count for more points.
K GRADE = A

OVERALL TEAM GRADE (GPA) = 3.67, A-

Without major injuries, you should have a great season.

Re: Rate this draft:

I meant to take donte stallworth over eddie kennison, but i just lost focus for a second and went on auto-pilot.

antonio bryant was the best player to go undrafted (and the only undrafted guy of note, i believe). I'll try to get him on waivers and ditch the Wash DEF. after preseason i can look at him compared to chad jackson (rookie WRs are generally a bad bet, even if they're guaranteed starting jobs). Being 10th means i get first dibs on the first waiver wire move.

Tatum Bell could end up being better than Jordan, so he's a solid pick, especially in the 6th round. Addai is a big unknown. Williams is a good risk to take for a rookie RB. He should be better than Reggie Bush.
RB GRADE = B
thanks for the comments, just a few notes:
QB:
trent green gets 4k yards, but only 20 or so TDs (plummer has the exact same problem and can't play in bad weather). I'm hoping (if lelie shuts up) that plummer will have 2 #1s and a good #2 to throw to. otherwise, he'll still be an average FF QB like trent green (but a bit worse). I'm not going to rack up a ton of positive points on QB matchups, but thats the trade off for going heavy on RBs and WRs (which have much steeper drop offs).

RB:
jordan could easily get 1200 yards and 11 tds (what he was on pace for, but he missed 2 games), so he's really not that bad (though he obviously isn't as nice as LJ etc). I probably should have taken C williams (TB) or ronnie brown (MIA), but I'm not sure they'll do as well this year (neither one has good TD prouction and williams had more bad games than good ones). Brown suffered from lack of carries though, so he's still a (promising) unknown. I liked deangelo because d foster can't stay on the field and I think he's a #2 quality back anyways. I liked addai cause manning creates a running game, so whoever you stick in there has a good chance of getting 1,000.

Re: Rate this draft:

basically the top 5 picks are scripted:
LJohnson
LTomlinson
SAlexander
CPortis
TBarber

then Edge and Rudi Johnson also go as safe RB picks with peyton and steve smith. the 10th 1st rounder is always an RB, usually lamont jordan or steven jackson, but sometimes its ronnie brown or C williams.

I'd personally take tiki over portis (1.8k vs 1.5k) in non keeper leagues, but portis has more upside this season if everything clicks.

my WR depth is a little flaky and neither QB throws a ton a TDs (hoping javon walker helps plummer a bit and that lelie stops crying too). I think I nailed RB the best i could without having a top 9 pick.
Very solid grabs in the first two rounds, and I like how you were able to consistently get steals in the late rounds. Cooley in the 12th is highway robbery. Lots O' mediocre receivers though. I know hindsight is 20-20, but maybe you should have grabbed a stud WR with the 2nd pick considering your ability to find quality RBs late. As it is I'm envious of the RB situation you have. At QB, Green is a great seasonal pick as he is a lock for close to 4000 yds.
