Re: Redskins Top Plays of 2005...Rank All-Time??

I was only 4 or 5 when it happened so I don't personally remember it, but the Darrell Green punt return has to go right up there with 70 Chips and Brunell to Moss # ONE (I'll get back to that in a sec) in my book.

Everytime my dad tells me about Darrell's return, how he was injured and his arm was just sort of limp but he never let up, he practically gets misty-eyed. I've seen the clip a few times but I'd love to see it again if anyone has a link.

I also said the first TD vs Dallas last year because it gave me so much hope. I just remember being so bored and frustrated with that game that i was getting ready to go to bed right before that drive. When Santana made that catch and streaked in for the TD, flipped the ball to the ref, and ran back to the sidelines with the expression that he was just getting started, I had hope again. the big d-bags hadn't done anything since that god-damn flea-flicker and I knew our D would keep it that way. I really think you have to look at the lsat three minutes of that game as it's own entity because ti was so much more than just a single play; of course, the same could be said for just about every memorable play.

Mr. Green returning the punt against Chicago was pure magic, especially when you found out he injured himself leaping over a tackler on the way to the end zone. In the replay you see it happen and even when he lets up a bit, still, no one can catch him.
if we are going to games lost plays then you gotta remember brian mitchell's kick return for a TD at tampa bay (100 yds). It was a great feeling at the time but we all know what happened after that.

If we had done well in 2004, Portis' first Redskin carry could have been up there with the all time best. As it is, its merely a significant TD run.

I am going to say that 70 chip was the best and most significant play in about 20 years. Outside of that the Darrell Green defense against Minnesota and the Green punt return in Chicago have to be right up there with the Golden Qtr and Grant TD against Dallas in 83 NFC Championship in the great RFK....wow, alot of memories in that paragraph!

I do have to say, that was prbably the most exciting single play I've seen in person. There were so any questions and expectations about Portis and Gibbs' return, and that run just made me feel like everything was gonna be gravy, at least at the time it did.

With my 11 year old son on my lap, we were very pumped for the season to begin. As the Skins came up for the first play my son said "how great would it be if Clinton ran it for a touchdown his first carry?" And with that the ball was handed off to Portis and he rambled all the way for the TD. A great memory for sure!!
