Remember, I'm hoping for Campbell to win the job ... it's not necessarily what I think WILL happen.
Yea but the 2004 season was pretty much over when he pulled Brunell.

DT depth - if CG or Big Joe go down we lose alot in the run stopping department - and that is where it all starts.

I'm going to say that Brunell is my biggest concern. He had a great year for use but seemed to fade toward the end of the season. I don't know if it was due to injury, his arm just got tired, or the teams we faced were just better. We have all the weapons on O for him this year but will he be able to get the ball to them and can he keep up his level of play in the post season. I'm not as concerned with the beging of the year as I am with the last 1/4 and post season.
I don't worry about Brunell because he has been one of the better performers at the QB position, ever. He wins games, so he will be fine.

My vote is for kicker and punter, but the offensive line depth gets honorable mention.

Also, I hope for consistency that Saunders doesn't change too many things too quickly. If he does, this could be a very 2004 like situation with the new offense.

Re: The Skins One Concern

probably receiver depth....

sike...

If every player stays healthy I don't really see anyone, except for linebacker (this is still pre-draft), however our problem pertains to "risk" I believe.

If we lose any OL or DL, and we will, things may become quite hairy. So am I panicked? No. Why? Because with the greatest coaching staff ever assembled we don't really need All-pro OL + DL backing up our guys. This team is unique.

I am aware that I am biased. So really none of this means anything to anyone. sweet.

I don't get your point. My point was that if Brunell plays like he did in 2004 this preseason, and Campbell plays better, Campbell should win the job.

I did not know you were talking about preseason. For Gibbs to start Campbell he will have to play at a very high level and Brunell will have to play even worse than he did in 04. We know how hard pressed Gibbs is to switch QB's unless your name is Ramsey. LOL

Re: The Skins One Concern

I'm worried about everything. The Redskins walk a thin line, any adversity can be detrimental. Lets list a few examples:
1) The defense needs Sean Taylor. If he is convicted, the secondary would be in shambles.
2) The offensive line needs to be healthy. The offense will be in trouble if something like Jansen having two broken thumbs and Thomas breaking his leg.
3) Brunnel has to stay healthy and efficient. Brunnel took a couple of big hits down the stretch and it affected his production. Can't have that this year.
4) The special teams need much improvement. Randle El will help the return game but kickoffs, punts and field goals were a problem last year. Coverage on kickoffs and punts is also a concern.

Really? I thought we were like top 3 in coverage on special teams last year.

Re: The Skins One Concern

A big concern is Sean Taylor, who is the X-Factor on the defense. He needs to keep his ass out of jail and be on the field come September.

Everyone mentions QB being a concern, but if Collins gets Brunell and Campbell ready, I don't see it as a concern. My concern would be if both Brunell and Campbell go down and the Skins have to ride Collins for 10 games. He's a veteran backup who hasn't played regularly since college. I can see Campbell winning the starting job and doing well.

This upcoming season is the first in a long time that I feel somewhat confident going into the summer. It seems like all the pieces seem to be in the right places, and the Skins will be good to go.

Re: The Skins One Concern

Yeah, if both Brunell and Campell both went down, that REALLY means the football gods were not smiling on us.

coverage was really good, but the punting/Ko distance sucked hard.

Re: The Skins One Concern

I think or biggest concern is definitaley the O line and it has been for years.
We definitaly need to address this in the draft.

Re: The Skins One Concern

Offensive line does not bother me. Randy Thomas had a broken leg, those tend not to linger. Broken bones actually heal stronger than they were before the break. He'll be fine. Rabach will be fine by July's training camp, same with Jansen. Missing minicamps is no big deal in the grand scheme. I see no reason to believe this offseason is any different from other offseasons for Chris Samuels. He'll be fine.

I'd like some OL depth, but the #1 concern is the QBs' mastery of the new Saunders offense. Will Saunders try to tinker too much, will Brunell struggle learning it, and will Campbell struggle to learn it? Plus, there are two new WRs on this team, how long will it take them to learn the Saunders offense and get up to speed with the QBs? Lots of questions there, we'll need to lean on Portis early on, because I think the passing game will have growing pains.
