I'm guessing Saunders will talk to the QB with Gibbs being on the headsets as well.

How will the offensive linemen feel about the Saunders philosophey? They seemed to be doing well before the Thomas injury with the smash mouth approach.

hard to believe he has not called plays before this. i wonder how this will affect his work as a coach. there is certainly a learning curve for it. interesting

With Saunders having complete play calling control (although I thought Burns called the plays this year with Gibbs having override approval) that should open up the offense dramatically. I think the only times Gibbs will step in will be to tell Saunders to take the air out of the ball some or if he sees something that he thinks they can exploit.
the colts are gonna have trouble retaining so many of their players because of the sheer number of them.

wayne is a priority. more than edgerrin i think, but what about tripplett, brock, morris, freeney a couple of db's... their defense could get toally gutted this offseason

yup. and without a running game (mungro is also a free agent but not a franchise back) let's see how well peyton flourishes.

Re: Gibbs to give up playcalling

Does this mean Len Pastabelly will be proved right? Pasta's view has been that the skins won't get to the Super Bowl with Gibbs calling the offensive plays. Now, we can expect a "see, I told you so" piece from Pasta. Though, if Saunders playcalling is what leads us to the big game, I won't care.

Re: Gibbs to give up playcalling

This is kind of a moot discussion anyway since Burns and Breaux were the ones responsible for alot of the playcalling. Pastabelly will never be right about anything.

Re: Gibbs to give up playcalling

The article on ESPN.com says that Gibbs wants to focus on personnel moves, such as what to do with Ramsey and LaVar.

Which is fine for the spring time, but come September those won't (or shouldn't) still be issues. So what then?

My guess is it will be as others have mentioned it's been in the past, and as other head coaches do it (such as Belichick and Weiss). Saunders will call the play calls and Gibbs will essentially give him full control, but he'll have the right to overturn a decision if he feels it's needed.

Re: Gibbs to give up playcalling

This is going to be great for us. Does this mean maybe Gibbs becomming our president/GM after his contract is up. Williams becomes head coach and saunders stay as Head coach offense?

Trent Green is actually older than Brunell if you can believe it, Saunders doesn't seem to have a problem with old assed QB's.
