Theo Johnson - PSU.
Tanner McLachlen - AZ. Big. Catches everything. Good at yac.
Ben Sinnott - KSU. Great hands. Runs wild in the secondary. Comp: Chris Cooley.
Cade Stover - OSU. Truly does it all. Comp: Brian Mitchell because he plays so tough.
Jaheim Bell - More of an H-Back or FB in the NFL.

We could get a productive TE in this class if we want one.
That's seven TEs projected to go in the first 5 rounds. I wouldn't call that a deep or strong TE class.

The 10th Tight End is projected to be drafted in the 7th round.

For comparison, the 10th Tackle is projected to be drafted late in the 2nd round. That's a deep/strong class.

in whole there are probably more in total number of OL men then total TE; so your observation is a bit skewed

basically OL is a bigger pool then TE to drink from

A guy on the radio made a great point regarding drafting Bowers. If he is taken high he is slotted to earn what that spot in the draft pays, if he's high enough that's the same figure as the franchise tag for TEs. To put so much cap money into a rookie tight end will be costly and that could cause him to drop in the draft.

Well, it's not just an observation, it's a fact. Depending on where you look, there's maybe 12 total Tight Ends expected to be drafted at all. After Bowers, maybe two more in the top 100. That doesn't exactly scream strong class to me. Last year nine Tight Ends went in the top 101.

While I agree with you that TE is a weak position in this particular draft you are missing the point. In every draft there will be 3-5 times the number of OL drafted than tight ends. It's simple math that there will be far more OLs drafted in the top 100 than TEs.

I'm not missing the point. I understand there are always more Tackles drafted than Tight Ends. It's not apples to apples...I was simply making a comparison - this is a deep class for Tackles, and this is not a deep class for Tight Ends.

What I hope we do right off the bat in the tampering period:

get a Center and a Mike LB . Get experienced guys who anchor both sides of the ball calling protections and calling defense plays

Next, let’s get a pass rusher

Let’s get these as priorities

Agreed, and I would add Tackle to that.

I was thinking Miami's Center, but I didn't realize he got hurt at the end of the season.

As far as running backs, I have my eye on Jaylen Wright, Bucky Irving, and Trey Benson.

Wright and Irving should be there in the 3rd round

I see the sense in signing Wagner. Solid vet presence at MLB (something we haven't had since Fletcher) and hopefully a mentor to a rookie MLB and the other young LB's.

Again I agree that it's a deeper draft for OTs than TEs. But it is also a position that holds more value than a TE so that has to be factored in when evaluating draft position. And again there are more OTs in the draft than TEs so naturally there will be more taken in the top 100.

I have wanted this team to sign Bobby Wagner the minute he left Seattle.

I was trying to make the point that the players I listed are players that I would take because they seem like players who are ready to play now. I should have said that the Commanders could probably have one of them if they want one of them enough to draft him relatively high. If they don't want to draft one by the 5th round then the TE position must not be a priority.

As for the Tackle position, if you are are suggesting that we'd better draft one in the 2nd Round to be safe, I'd say that would be wise; however, some of those Top 10 tackles may bust. Also, the tackles projected to go from #11 on might all be dog doo which would mean that this wasn't a strong class for Tackles after all.

I stopped visiting that site because of the slideshow style presentation and all the clicks but I would sign Wagner. Yes!
