I loved Heinicke and you may be right about today, but Howell has put up games that Heinicke just couldn't. I also am not vested in Howell, BUT he reminds me of early Cousins in a good way AND you have him on a rookie contract for 2 more years where you can build a team around him.

Uh .. NO he would not .. geez we all know you can’t stand Sam .. what is your point anymore ??
You didnt like Taylor when he was here either .. yea I’d like to see Taylor throw it as much as EB has Sam winging it … Sam had a bad day but this loss was about a team that has guit on the coaching staff .. we will not win another game and I kinda hope Sam gets mothballed before he gets hurt seriously.. Sam is the least of the issues with this dumpster fire

Re: The Sam Howell Thread

Sam was bad today no doubt and he admitted it. He’s young, will take some beatings but he’s a gamer. Honestly he’s kinda like a baker mayfield, tough as hell, good arm, accurate to a degree but Sam is more mobile. Until we find a better QB and we all know that’s hard to do, Sam is the guy. I mean who else are we going to get?? Kirk?? He ain’t coming back. I suppose we could draft a QB but our OL is TRASH

It’s brutally hard for you guys to be critical of your lord and savior Sam Howell. Dude shit the bed today and his upside is JAG.
The guy is another Colt McCoy or John Beck. He isn’t the guy. Sorry.

Dak is trash but he’s better than Howell
Howell wasn’t the best QB on the field today against a team that started a practice squad guy.

Keep making excuses for Sam.

He may not be the guy and he might be. We don’t know yet. It’s hard to judge with this awful organization

Re: The Sam Howell Thread

Let's not forget that Favre and P. Manning had a lot of turnovers in the early going (in fact, Favre only cured that in part). Those guys turned out pretty well. The other QBs we've had in recent years could not have had the good games that Howell has had. Let's give him some more time before we call it one way or the other.

As for the coaching staff, on the other hand....

Re: The Sam Howell Thread

Jamf , There are a lot of current and retired NFL players as well as coaches and NFL people who have come out and publicly praised Sam… I think they are more qualified than any of us to talk about his Skill set … I’ve never said he was gonna be the greatest QB ever to begin with .. you seem to enjoy watching him have a bad game …by the way you’ve been asked several times who would you have gone after to play this year ?

Re: The Sam Howell Thread

You can't truly judge Sam without building even a replacement-level team around him. That has to be the plan for next year... an aggressive offseason to revamp the roster/coaching staff and see if Howell deserves a contract extension after '24.

Any that was drafted in the first. He's made that clear in the past. He'd love Howell right now if he had been drafted in the 1st instead of Dotson.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread

You got see Sam's body of work over a whole season then make a decision.

He is so on the cheap to us considering his draft position I wouldn't get rid of him but if there is someone in the coming draft that the new regime likes you don't pass on him; draft him and he and SH battle it out.

I still think we have a strong starter in SH that if you put some nice pieces around him he could flourish.

At this point I say his ceiling is Kirk level, I don't think he will ever reach the Rogers level of QB play. BUT again he is a guy you could build around.

With the right Team around him his ceiling is Russell Wilson type. The floor is Baker Mayfield.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread

Jam might be right and hell I can't blame him for his doubts.. This team let KC walk away and he's been a top 10 QB since he left. We NEVER hit on QB's so all of us are really just hoping SH is a franchise guy. None of us are certain he is. It's a crap shoot. Look at Pittsburgh, they thought Pickett was it and he's ass... Most said Stroud was a system QB and he's awesome. U really never know
