I think the fairweather fans are only good for the money the give the team, otherwise I hate them. Only true Redskins fans know why. When you see the same people that give you shit for liking the Redskins every weekend, now suddenly support the Redskins and act like fans. It pisses me off like crazy. I was born in 87, but did not watch the Redskins until 97. I have been a skins fan for the last 8 yrs of my life, and the majority of what I saw is losing. But I stuck with my team, and I am damn proud, now that we are winning is even more sweeter because I stayed with the the team I loved. I feel that these people that embrace the team wont be there for the ups and downs. Us true Skins fans are a huge family, and no matter how the Skins are doing, we all will be rooting for the same team. That is the beauty of it, the true love that we have for our team, that these posers will never have. I just do not feel like they are a part of this family. The more people that support the Skins the better, but not all are REAL fans.

Since Gibbs is back my parents who are 60 got the NFL direct tv package to make sure they don't miss any more Redskins games since they've moved outta the area. I think the influx is Gibbs fans coming back and ofcourse the non brained bandwagon populi. I don't mind as long as we keep winning. But us diehards know who we are. I sat at Fed Ex at a Monday night game vs Dallas when Danny passed out Deion doorags. We lost. I had to watch it live! And then there's Arrington knocking out Aikman, but uh we lost the game reguardless. We all know the diehards once ya talk to them for a few secs. GO SKINS!!!

I wear my Redskins stuff all the time when I'm out here on Long Island, and I've been getting real dirty looks form all the Giant fans this week. Eff 'em. -Summo

There is a guy here at work that USED to be a Redskins fan, but dropped them when they started losing. Now, I don't remember alot of the details from games that happened 10 years ago...basically because alot of them I am trying to forget! However, I have been watching this team religiously since I was about 5 years old! When I was working in retail years ago, I would tape the game and watch it as soon as I had gotten home. Even if I heard the score prior to the game, I'd still watch the taped game. I believe when you stick with a team the way alot of us diehards have done, winning seasons such as this means so much more to us!

Dude, there are three things I'll never forget:

1. Being at RFK as a youngster for that '83 game.
2. My first time having sex
3. Being at RFK as a youngster for that '83 game.

fairweather fans are what they are, fairweather nothing else.when the skies were cloudy the fairweather fans weren,t here until now.i like the fans who stick with their teams win lose or draw.i have a cowboy friend in my neighborhood and he understands the game and whats going on unlike other so called real fans of their teams.he,s like me i will pull for them no matter what so that makes me feel good knowing that aswell.

i was born a skins fan and i will die a skins fan.

Re: Can't swing dead cat w/o hit'n a Skins Fan NOW

I've been a skins fan since birth ( I actually came home from the hospital in a skins onsie) and I was born in TX. My grandparents were fans and my family is from the DC area, so I was brainwashed very early. I didn't really start watching and understanding the game until I was 11. (I watched it all the time, but never followed players and such) and after the 91 season its been pretty much down hill, but my love for my team has done nothing but grown.

Having said that, I don't understand the fairweather mentality. I can't see how you can jump on board for one team without really jumping on board. Its kindof like a marrige... better or worse ordeal... and thats why I feel like the winning and the redemption is more for me than all of the people who only watch when we are winning. Its just a feeling, and I know it doesn't amount to much, but Its a good feeling and if we get into the playoffs or even if we don't this has been the best season I've seen since I serisously started watching football. (I was too young to really understand the game, and therefore apprecieate it when we won in 91).

This guy at my office is from Virginia but hasn't been a skins fan since Gibbs' first run. He told me a few weeks ago he didn't believe that we could run the table and that he's not sold on the skins. Today he is emailing me articles about the Dallas and NY games, thinks we deserve to go to the playoffs, but still doesn't think we can win a playoff game on the road...... This is your classic "Wants to be on the Bandwagon but can't commit to it, even after our run....." Classic waffler.....
