Re: Giants postgame
That was definitely a weak ass call. We caught a break on that one.

Re: Giants postgame
Lol at some of the kool aid posts im reading. This team isn’t winning more than 7 games this year. Doesn’t make me less of a fan, just more of a realist. Fun win last night though.

Good game G-One. You guys always play us tough - I thought we were done after Hopkins missed the initial kick. The only real doom and gloom I have is being at work at 5:30 the night after a primetime game - can barely keep my eyes open right now. Defense looked mostly like crap again but the good news is we have 15 weeks to correct the issues. Big issues for me was how much success they were having with the RPO - how is JDR not teaching guys like Chase and Collins to be patient and watch the handoff before reacting. Collins got burnt on Young's big run and Chase got burnt immediately after a RPO had a big gain. This is shit they should remember from last year. Shoutout to the guys on offense - we don't win if they don't show up. They handled their jobs last night. Still gotta tighten up that defense though if we expect to compete with Buffalo.

Re: Giants postgame
Great win last night. The Giants always come ready to play and WFT pulled it out. 1-1 after two games is a good start. The bad news is that if this team needs to score 30 points to win then there aren't going to be many more upbeat post-game threads.

Re: Giants postgame
Our offense put up 30 points.
They overcame a turnover at a killer time. They put together sustained drives and quick strike drives. They overcame a terrible spot/replay When was the last time all those things happened. I am optimistic because our offense finally showed spark outside of Terry. Yes the D has been bad, but they have a lot of new pieces. They will get on track as the rookies grow into it. My issue with this D is the main weakness (LB) was known from day one of the offseason and they thought simply drafting a rookie was enough... AND the secondary is underperforming. Kyle Fuller seems like he just sucks know, WJ3 made some plays but got beat a couple of times, and St Juste as a rookie will get burned from time to time. Will need to rewatch, but just chilling down a bit, I think the DL played decently, we are expecting a lot from them but you're not going to sack the QB every play, especially when you DBs are playing like sh*t. Out of the top of my head I can remember CY, Allen, Payne, Sweat and even Ioannidis making plays. So it means they did produce a bit, but they need to do more, and they the other 7 players on the field to do their part.

Won't argue back and forth about it forever, I'll just say as a ref I am never throwing this flag, because by the philosophy of the rule this is not a foul, the defender is cleanly getting beaten on the block, the grab doesn't prevent him from making any play, doesn't bring him in another direction than the one he is going, he's not shedding that block whatsoever.

Re: Giants postgame
Some of the coverage issues are fixable. We are mostly playing zone. I see DB’s and LB’s releasing receivers to nobody in order to cover an empty zone. Our players need to use their brains. Do not release a receiver late in a play. I don’t give a fuck about your zone responsibilities after 4 seconds into a play. The idea is to cover a man not make a pretty zone shape. The idea of zone is to get to your zone then cover the closest guy. Not stand around in your zone.
For a veteran #26 is not playing consistently. On the long QB run by Jones that was gifted back by a penalty, #26 blitzed and was in perfect position to blow up the play. Instead he ran right by him. There are 2 or 3 other plays where he is always a step behind. |

Re: Giants postgame
It's still early but I am very concerned about the lack of plays CY and Sweat are making.. More so Young because many predicted him to have an Aaron Donald type season... So far his ass has been 70% missing.. Payne and Allen have been the best 2.

Re: Giants postgame
Payne was the one who broke Gates lower leg. Another freak accident.

Re: Giants postgame
It was a weak call. He appeared to have too much of a grip on the shoulder pads, but still a questionable call. Equally questionable was the roughing the passer call on Chase in the first quarter. Instead of 3rd and 12 at the 16, the Giants were given 1st and goal at the 8 and would score a TD. So the calls cancel each other out.

Re: Giants postgame
It was a great game, we had a bad start but we managed to break through.. You guys covered almost all points, especially about the defense.. So I want to point this out - Gibson averaged 5.3 yds per carry, why didn't Turner use him more in the game?
