So in other words it has happened about a million times in recent history but when Nancy Pelosi (every Republicans least favorite person after she told Trump to go scratch) happens to be the one standing in the way it is worse? I mean come on Nonniey Mitch McConnell is the poster child for” No way no how not even reading what’s on my desk “ if it comes from across the aisle. Lol. Nancy catches alot of ire ever since she stood up to the leader of the Republican party, and i never hear anything from the right about Mitch.

Looks like in the whole loaf or nothing approach, nothing wins again (as usual).

Speaking of as usual, after Mitch McConnell, and Trump (just in a shorter window than Mitch) have literally ignored every bill that has come from a Democrat for years - not even tried to negotiate- just literally ignored them, and the right has been absolutely silent about it - we are now going to blame the left for standing in the way of progress? Ok. That’s rich.

And before SD accuses me of only saying bad things about republicans and not democrats - im not. I just find it hilarious how the right reacts when the left pulls a page from their playbook. Its awful isn’t it?

The GOP is the problem with our political system right now folks, but please don’t let me stand in the way of blaming Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden. Lol. Carry on…

This isn't one party stopping the other party's partisan proposals, this is the President and Pelosi screwing up a compromise bill put together by both parties. I can't think of one instance on major legislation since 2008 where an agreement has been reached within Congress between the two parties. So you are comparing (pine?)apples to oranges on this.

Nah, you right. This is the first time in a while a bill that was compromised on by both sides of the aisle was held up due to party leadership on one side going hard-line on it.

When Mitch is in power, he just says straight up "we're not even going to look at this. FOH bitch ass dems."

But somehow what we're doing is worse. I guess we just need to refuse to even consider any conservative ideas.

Well isn’t stopping the same as “screwing” up? Stopping, blocking, ignoring, counter offering…..
Pelosi and Biden wanting more in the bill is not screwing up. When the hell was the last time Republicans compromised on anything? Again McConnell does not even entertain most of what Dems in congress propose.

https://www.vox.com/2019/11/29/20977...emocrats-trump

From that article…

“McConnell calls himself the “grim reaper” of Democratic legislation he derides as socialist, but many of the bills that never see the Senate floor are bipartisan issues, like a universal background check bill, net neutrality, and reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act.”

Bipartisan issues there. Call it whatever fruit you would like, but at the end of the day it is halting progress. To me ignoring something is far worse than negotiations going nowhere. At least this was entertained.
The party of Mitch McConnell and Trump (whether he is in office or not he obviously has pull) has no business harping on Pelosi and Biden for halting progress in any way, shape, form, or fruit….none at all.

Again the point is they killed (unintentionally on Biden's part I think) a bill that both parties agreed to pass which is in fact different than killing legislation that only the other party was proposing. We have been in a whole loaf or nothing pattern since the ACA was passed - with the parties 100% opposed to legislation proposed (or allowing amendments to) by their political opponents. This compromise broke (or would have) that pattern and finally brought back some level of cross party cooperation. The result is instead of getting $1.2 trillion for infrastructure we'll get a big fat goose egg for infrastructure and the destructive pattern of no compromise will continue.

Wow. If I didn't know any better I'd swear the POTUS caved after announcing an unpopular decision and he took the L. It's almost like he listens to people around him. Why does it feel like it's been so long since that happened?

Because it has been. Lets hope the damage done can be overcome and the bill passed. Wonder if Pelosi is going to likewise backtrack?

Well in all fairness to the ones who didn’t listen to those around him, those around him championed everything he did good or bad because they would have been fired and accused of treason so…..

Ahhh the fresh air of a non autocracy……

Re: Fresh Start Political Thread

Literally nothing has changed between Trump and the Biden administration when it comes to communication and messaging…it’s been 1000% true with covid and now the infrastructure bill. The hope of clarity, transparency and honesty…that’s been a bullshit dream. Biden lies as much as Trump period.

Biden seems like he is suffering from dementia or something else, his presser where he was whispering the other day after just last week becoming unhinged on the world stage with the press…you gotta be a brainwormed clown not to see it.

I think everyone agrees we need funding for infrastructure and especially security of our infrastructure. Anything that is not actual infrastructure like “human infrastructure” should be negotiated outside of the bill as a separate issue.
