He is good, but old and has clearly lost a step. I dont want him for any kind of big signing bonus. Remember, this is a young team and we should be spending on quality free agents who can grow along with the rest of our guys.

Re: Eric Moulds

I think Moulds can still contribute. I'd consider him this offseason. I'd like to see them go after Antwaan Randle El and either Moulds, Joe Jurevicius (I know he's no spring chicken), and to a lesser extent Antonio Bryant (I know he's a former Cowboy)

Re: Eric Moulds

Speaking of the Bills though, rumor is their head coach might be on his way out. What about Mularkey here as OC? How ironic would that be, what with the guy he replaced, Gregg Williams, here already.

But Mularkey did some pretty good things with the offense in Pittsburgh. An offense not too much unlike ours. Run, Run, Run, play-action

Re: Eric Moulds

If we do add a "big" WR I'm hoping it will be a guy with some speed. Moulds just doesn't have that extra gear he used to. His yards per catch have steadily dipped the last few years, granted the unsettled situation at QB hasn't helped, but he hasn't averaged more than 13 per catch since 2001.

Re: Eric Moulds

Speaking of Big WRs w/speed, I'm glad we didn't pick up M.Williams with that first round pick.

I thought it was funny last week on the NFL today, Jimmy Johnson called him a slow tight-end!

Re: Eric Moulds

There are alot of Dan Snyders out here. Big name, lets get him. First it Price, now Moulds. There is a reason Price has not been seen since leaving Buffalo. Moulds is 32, why pay another aging player money. He is not going to be cheap. Why not DRAFT a player! or develop one of our yound guys. Jacobs should be given a shot, if he doesn't get hurt again. The organization was so impressed with him in the offseason, then he got hurt. We dont need another big name guy that will complain about not getting the ball, or breaking his streak of catches. Havn't we learned from this? Why is it when somebody is rumored to be let loose or dropped, its alot of "we need him, thats exactly what we need" come on people! let build up from young players and stop overpaying these players on their way out!

I agree but unfortunately the skins have a coach and front office that likes to give away draft picks like santa claus gives away xmas presents. This team needs to stop giving these draft pick away so they can develop a depth of talent instead of giving away $ to once great players looking to cash a big paycheck.

Re: Eric Moulds

56Fanatic -- Most people are willing to offer both players you mentioned a very small salary. It's worth the risk for the possible reward of getting a great player. We're not asking anyone to break the bank (IE the over-the-hill crew Snyder first brought in) but we are willing to take a chance if they're cheap.

Just like a few of us wanted to bring in Koren Robinson, he's doing pretty damn good out in MN right now.

It's all about finding those gems that fall through the cracks. Like Irish mentioned, its not like we can keep draft picks around.

Drafting WRs is a total crapshoot and our young "talent" consists of Taylor Jacobs and Parrish the Practice Dummy. You can bet Jacobs will be hurt again soon. The good news is that this offseason the WR free agent market will have some pretty good talent and guys will come relatively cheap. I want Javon Walker but he's too expensive.

Most people, meaning NFL teams? Yeah, they can offer minimul amounts, my point is he isn't going to come cheap. 1 to 2 million, are you kidding, he is getting between 5 and 8 right now. He doesn't need to accept less because he will get paid, but a team with cap room, and a team that needs one more good receiver to get over the top. Koren Robinson is a time bomb, he is going to hold out or want another deal when he feels he deserves it. Then it will be the same ole story. All of the things people are saying, lead to the front office. We cant keep draft picks around because they want to go somewhere and win. Why stay here and suffer for a .500 ball club. Others will go for money. If our organiztion wasn't in such disarray, champ would still be here, smoot too. Champ left because we couldn't keep the same staff and players here to win. Its one of the things he says all the time. And the fact that the organization he went to had some class, which I believe Denver does. Washington, well mainly Dan has not really shown much class to players or people within the organization.

make no mistake, he left for money. He wanted $68mill and we didn't want to pay him more than $50mill. Those pot-shots are just petty sh*t cause we rejected him. During the contract talks all he said was how much he liked it here and how he wanted to be a redskin for life and all that other crap pro athletes say.

If Smoot did indeed leave the Redskins for the Vikings because this organization has issues...then that's a sad commentary on the state of the Redskins
