So if I am reading that correctly, we would get Rosen and the #65 and they take #15? Pass.....

I voted yes after listening to Cooley on Sheehan's podcast .

It all depends on the price, a combination including a 3rd, or a 2nd alone and I'd be fine with it, but I'd be mad if they give away 15th.

I get the feeling we could get him at a surprisingly cheap price. Last year's performance hurt his stock, the fact that the Cards want to trade Murray and trade Rosen away is hurting his stock, the fact that every body is getting so hyped on some of this year draft's QBs is hurting his stock.

If we can coach the fumble away and coach the "throw the check down when you need to" in, we have a very decent young prospect for virtually no cap hit. I'd like that.

About the trading TW and RK thing, Sheehan only spoke about it when he was exposing his "blow the whole thing up" theory, in which trading your valuable assets to get value when you'll be competitive in exchange for players that won't be valuable when you finally get competitive makes sense.
But it's obvious this FO and coaching staff is trying to save their asses so this is not happening.

Seems like a move to try to get some leverage back in negotiations for Rosen, doesn't it ?

It's one of those "what else is he going to say" things

Right.
But the fact that he finally says what he's supposed to say after saying he'd pick Murray if he could and everybody has been speculating that he would for several weeks, that he says it now that they're trying to get value for Rosen kinda feels like a "shit we have no leverage if every body is 100% sure that we won't need Rosen after drafting Murray" move...

Obviously the smoke was real in this rumor.

Re: Josh Rosen Trade Rumors: Redskins Have 'Openly' Discussed QB If Made Available

I don't think it's that it takes away their leverage in Rosen discussions, I think it's that it takes away their leverage in the off chance that they got offered a king's ransom for the first overall pick.

The leverage in Rosen discussions only comes if multiple teams are in the hunt. Otherwise they have no leverage. At this point it's pretty well known that they want Murray. They're probably thinking plan A would be to get offered a Herschel Walker or Ricky Williams level trade for the #1 overall. Plan B would be to take Kyler and trade Josh Rosen for the highest offer they can get.

Trading Rosen will work quite well for them if they've got two or more interested teams bidding against each other. Right now it looks like the Skins have competition from the Giants. The Cards can simply play them off one another, knowing that they're division rivals and don't want to see the other land a QB they think has a future.

It's also entirely possible Rosen's already been traded. You would think the Schefters of the world would know if he was. But teams aren't allowed to announce trades until March 13, the start of the new league year.

The Cards and Skins, or the Cards and Giants, or the Cards and Patriots may already have a deal in place for Rosen and we're all just waiting on bated breath for word.

The media has an incentive to keep everyone hanging on the cliff, too. They like the clicks and views from those who want to refresh the news every 15 minutes. I'm sure baseball media loved the clicks and views that came from the Harper saga.

There are tin foil hat conspiracy theories, and then there are theories where monetary incentives align. I think it's entirely possible a Rosen deal is already done.

I don't think NE is a serious destination for Rosen and I really don't believe the Giants are looking at QB this year either, it's pretty much the Skins at this point and that is huge for negotiating a deal in our favor. I'd imagine right away on March 13 you will see the trade official. Rosen to Washington for the 46th pick (2nd rd) and I'd be ok with that.

I agree. This is a deep draft and there will be blue chip talent at 15. Rosen is still a big question mark. I am hearing teams are inquiring about Rosen, but there is not a bidding war. We need to pump the brakes and not over pay for Rosen. We should not be desperate.

Giants are definitely looking at QB this year.

I'm pretty sure that if a Cards and Patriots trade happened, it'd be a ridiculously in favor of the Pats. I really wish NFL teams would stop trading with them.
