Re: Post game

On Reed -- Yes, he made a dumb penalty and you have to be aware of the circumstances.

In his defense, however, watch the entire replay. ... After the play is dead, the Carolina player is still going after Reed. Specifically, he is yanking and tugging on Reed's injured arm/shoulder and then, as Reed finally pulls away, the Carolina player lands a shot to Reed's head. A second later a Panthers player pulls his teammate away and, as he is doing so, Reed retaliates. Had another Skins' player pulled Reed back, no penalty ... but b/c he had kept his cool UNTIL the retaliation, no real need to do so.

Yes. You need to be smarter and realize it's the retaliation that always gets penalized. At the same time, it really looked to me like the Panthers' player was intentionally trying to aggravate Reed's already-painful injury and then topped it off with a cheap shot to Reed's head.

Not sure many of us would keep our cool in those circumstances.

Re: Post game

Reed should not be on the field. He can't block, he can barely catch, it's not a tough guy contest. He hurts the team when he is obviously injured to the point where he's useless. Shut him down before he hurts himself and the team even more. To me that is piss poor coaching.

And please SM, draft a complete TE that is durable.

Re: Post game

Keeping Reed on the field when he was injured was a coaching mistake. It reminded me of RG3 against Seattle in 2012 wildcard game. I was watching him limp around and asking myself how the hell do the coaches not pull him out? Well, keeping him in there was what led to the penalty and ejection.

Reed's injured shoulder is the left one, the Carolina player was tugging on his right arm. And he was doing so to get free from Reed who kept holding him after the play was over. The shot to Reed's head is completely unintentional, he turns around quickly, again to free himself from Reed's hold.

That's entirely on Reed.
But I'm not mad at him, I feel like he shouldn't have been in the game in the first place. He was obviously playing through a tremendous amount of pain. Hats off to him for doing so and wanting to do so, but coaching and medical staff should have kept him out of the game.
You cannot play smart when under such pain.

Re: Post game

Not a fan of Barry but last night was obviously a lack of talent issue. Our guys on defense just aren't good enough.

No excuses for Kirk and co. They were dog shit last night. This is a good offense but a soft offense. When you can't run the ball at all what does that say? When all you can do is throw horizontal passes what does that say?

I won't be singing a different tune. I'm slow to anger but now I'm really pissed off and likely to stay that way. We continually come out flat and lose so-called "must win" games. That is on Jay Gruden, IMO, and I don't envision that changing as long as he is here. I like continuity, but not with the wrong HC. I'm just about done with Gruden.

McVay's play-calling is as predictable as the direction in which the sun will come up each morning. He also sucks out loud in the Red Zone.

There will be much better DC's available than Joe Barry this off-season and we should take advantage of that to hire one of them.

WTF happened to Perry Fewell? The DB's don't seem to have a clue about how to play their positions.

The players should be ashamed of the way they played last night. They were manhandled on both sides of the ball. They all looked like a big bunch of pussies! It was pathetic!

Once again, Kirk Cousins fizzled out on a big stage. I'm starting to really hate the idea of paying him the Big Bucks - and I've supported him.

So what if we beat the Bears on Saturday? We're supposed to beat them. That's no big deal to me. But what does it say about our team if we lose to them?

I just don't understand a 4 yard passes on 3rd and 7. It's such stupid harry high school shit. McVay? Idk... the runs he called were getting stuffed. There was literally not one hole for Kelly to run through. So not sure I can blame him for the lack of a run game last night. That was our oline basically getting overpowered.

I tend to agree with you. I think the water will be hot for Jay if we lose out the rest of the season. Skins have played pretty lackluster since the GB game.

No creativity by McVay. None.

I think the quick memory loss is being cured, along with the rose colored vision. A victory over a mediocre Bears team isn't going to get people thinking playoffs. We are on a downward trajectory, as we have played really bad football 2 of the past 3 games. It is a stark contrast from last season. Last night was an embarrassment and exposed the reality of how far we have to go to really contend.

McVay has been extremely inconsistent, to say the least. Last night, he couldn't have been any, more predictable. He also lacked any, kind of creativity.

I'm not sold on him.
