Re: How many PPG will the offense Score?
i didnt realize scoring has gone up so much over the past 5 years or so.
my 17 ppg or so call seems unreasonably low in comparison to numbers being thrown around on here even though i do think we take a step back next year w the new scheme etc. i think i am permanently scarred by all those inept offense years under spurrier/gibbs/zorn where we went large stretches w/out cracking 20. |

Re: How many PPG will the offense Score?
Edit: Never mind.
@overthemountain Yeah, it's interesting that a 21 PPG offense would have landed you just outside the bottom-10 last year. That almost makes me think 27 is more realistic than my original 21, but I still have reservations about this offense. Last edited by SirLK26; 07-03-2014 at 03:36 PM. |

Re: How many PPG will the offense Score?
seems that scoring has gone up every year since 2005 (as expected)
2005 - 20.6 ppg (for entire NFL) 2013 23.4 ppg (NFL) NFL Season By Season Team Offense - Pro-Football-Reference.com Redskins 2013 20.9 '12 27.3 '11 18 10 18.9 09 16.6 (zorn) 08 16.6 (zorn) '07 20.9 (gibbs) 06 19.2 05 22.4 3 things stand out to me 2012 was a very special year for us and i loved it. Zorn was worse than I thought Gibbs II was better than I thought edit - i was inclined to discount the record setting avg PPG of 23.4 last year bc the broncos avg something insane like 37 ppg but going forward i could see one or two teams a year putting up insane scoring numbers. its the norm now to expect offensive records to be broken every year. |

Re: How many PPG will the offense Score?
Healthy RGIII for most of that season. IMO his health is the primary factor in our ability to score points. I'm very comfortable in predicting 24.0 PPG in 2014 as long as RGIII stays healthy.

Re: How many PPG will the offense Score?
I believe Desean presence alone changes this offense. No DC in the league can afford to put 8 in the box against us it's too risky. That will open lanes for Alfmo to run wild and you have to account for RG3 legs on some plays. The 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB I believe will strike much success this year it will keep the D honest too many options to account for at once. I believe we will score between 22-25 PPG this year that will put us close to fight for a wild card berth.

Re: How many PPG will the offense Score?
The weapons are among the best in the league. Only problem is I don't trust anyone outside of Trent Williams on the offensive line. It might be a year or two with Gruden working with that OLine and bringing in new faces before this offense really takes off.

Re: How many PPG will the offense Score?
Probably the same as last year, just hope they all don't come in the 4th quarter when we're getting blown out.

Re: How many PPG will the offense Score?
With the weapons RG3 has, the question for me is what kind of offense does Gruden employ?

Re: How many PPG will the offense Score?
My opinion on this topic is to be a good offense we need to be explosive from anywhere on the field. It's to difficult to dink and dunk 80 yards down the field and expect to score a TD against these really good defenses. It puts a lot of stress on the O-Line to be perfect and not get holding or false start penalties. This year with the speed at the WR position and TE ( Reed) this should help improve our big plays of 50 yards or more. If our offense makes the defense have to play the entire field this will help Alfred Morris and or RB's to have big run plays. I think our offense will average 25 points a game. I also believe that the defense will benefit from our offense because now we can play with the lead vs being behind the entire game.
