Re: 34th Overall Pick
I think if the Redskins came away with Moses [OT UVA] in the second round and David Yankey [OG Stanford] in the third round my Hypothalamus would go into overdrive resulting in a most fatal and acute influx of Dopamine.

Re: 34th Overall Pick
1st choice at #34- Jason Verrett. Too skillful. Shutdown potential. Should start early to mid-season.
2nd choice at #34- Safety Deone Bucannon. Active and always around the ball. Very instinctive in coverage and against the run. Strong tackler. Everything you want in a safety and everything the Redskins were missing last year. Would be a perfect fit that would turn a weakness into a strength. I will be pissed if the Redskins pass on these players for a guy with just size, speed, and/or potential. We have enough Amersons, Leribuses, Phillip Thomases, and Rambos. F*ck potential, Verrett and Bucannon can play now. |

I felt that Amerson had a decent rookie season. He should make big strides in his second year. Phillip Thomas was pencilled in as a starter at safety until he was injured last preseason. I'm still high on him and I think he'll deliver on his promise this season. I've criticized Leribeus as much as anyone about his lack of conditioning which seems to be due to a lack of motivation. Nevertheless, in the small sample of playing time he's had, LeRibeus looks to me to be a talented player. Apparently, he is in better shape this year, so I think he has a chance to be a good player. Rambo has a long way to go to be an NFL safety. We'll see what happens. Verrett and Buchanan may be better players than the current players you mentioned but we don't know that yet. There are no sure things in NFL drafting, so they are both only prospects with potential, as well. Personally, I would much rather see the Skins pick an OT in the second round than a DB. I think that protecting RGIII better should be the top priority.

Re: 34th Overall Pick
2 things that would make me extremely happy in regards to the draft, we are able to trade down a couple spots and get some extra picks and move Cousins for a 3rd round pick.

I like Thomas quite a bit, but he's coming off a very serious injury Fingers crossed on LeRibeus Rambo may simply be destined to be a backup, and if that's the case then he has to learn to play special teams. Because backup defensive backs who don't play special teams hardly exist

Hoping for a run of QBs in the 1st so we can even choose from prospects like Verrett. If Bridgewater, Bortles, Manziel, Carr, and hopefully another QB go in the 1st or very early second(like #34), we'll have some great players available to choose from. Perhaps if Carr or some QB Cleveland likes is available at #34, we can trade down 1 spot and get another pick. |

Well you are still going on the premise that Amerson and Thomas are busts of some sort. Also how many "elite prospects" have we seen have their most elite moments before they ever put on an nfl uniform? Look I am not doubting that their might be a better prospect available in the 2nd or 3rd round than one of the tackles or gaurds available. I do know that I cannot sit back and watch Tyler Polumbus let RG3 get killed for another year. |

On Thomas, I loved him coming out as well. I made a pre-draft post about him too, something like, "Whoever gets Phillip Thomas is one lucky team." And with Bruce Allen saying that they expected Thomas to be a starter last year before he got hurt, I still have hopes for him. But Bucannon's a superior talent and doesn't have the injury issues. BTW, it's safe to say that after last year's draft, I was ecstatic. Like a kid who had Christmas come early. |

For example, here's where CBS Sports rates some of the players you mentioned: Verrett 26 Sua-Filo 30 Moses 37 Bitonio 41 Bucannon 65 If the Redskins' rankings were the the same as the CBS Sports rankings, then the Skins might be inclined to take either Moses or Bitonio at #34 with the idea that Bucannon might be available to them in the third round.

But if the Redskins board looks like CBS Sports', I might give up football. Bucannon is a borderline 1st round selection; absolutely no way he's available in the 3rd. I personally think he's better than Pryor and Clinton-Dix; the best safety available, in fact. But that's not the point of your post. I agree with you. |

As for Rambo, didn't look to good out there. However, if he can develop and play special teams like you said I have no problem with him as a backup. Year 1 was way too much for him but we'll see how he adjusts.

Re: 34th Overall Pick
Does anybody like Dee Ford out of Auburn as a 3-4 OLB pass rusher? I might if he falls to us.
Right now my preferences for our first pick: 1. Jimmie Ward 2. Dee Ford 3. Morgan Moses

Re: 34th Overall Pick
Yet another great article by Rich Tandler from yesterday:
"The Redskins could use an infusion of young talent from next month’s NFL draft. The problem is that that have only six picks and they are missing a first rounder. They could improve their chances of landing good contributors and perhaps even a star player or two by acquiring more draft picks. One way is to trade away players on the roster but the Redskins are not an exceptionally deep team (that’s why they need help from the draft) and the chances of anyone coming up with an offer for any player besides Kirk Cousins are slim. And the backup QB might not be going anywhere. The other option is to trade down. Let’s take a look at what the Redskins might be able to get in a swap down from their initial spot, No. 34 overall, by using the draft value trade chart. The chart is just a guide but it gives us a ballpark idea of what the picks are worth. Right now, the only team with an extra second-round pick is the 49ers, who hold overall picks 56 and 61. The could package those picks to move up to No. 34 and they might ask for the Redskins’ fifth-round pick to even things out. The issue here is that the Redskins would not be adding to their quantity of picks but the quality would improve. The Redskins could pick up an additional pick around the middle of the third round by moving back to the latter stages of the second round. A move back of about 20 spots to 53rd overall is worth a mid-third-round pick. To pick up a fourth they would need to move back about 10 spots, moving back five or six spots is worth a fifth. Trading down in the third or fourth is a possibility but the trade value chart tells you that those moves yield only late-round picks. Still, the more picks you have the better chance there is of finding an Alfred Morris sometime on Saturday. Moving up (My note: I think he meant to write "down" here) is not as simple as many fans may make it out to be. The Redskins would have to be on the clock with multiple options as to two to select. A team behind them would want to have a particular player who is on the board badly enough to give up picks in what has been called the deepest draft in years."
