I'm sure people have mentioned it, but it's unfair to put that false start squarely on TW. The clock management wasn't the greatest on the drive. We burned a TO and the clock ran down to 01 a few times.
Is that because rg3 is "rusty" (btw getting to be the favorite term of the week, along with "fast paced") or the plays not getting in on time? Maybe a little bit of everything.

Re: Skins v Eagles post game thread
My take on the game? The Eagles looked impressive early, but I'm not convinced they can maintain that level of tempo and run that many plays in each game throughout the season. Much longer season, much better athletes on defense. They didn't look too impressive in the second half, and I'm not convinced Kelly dialed back the offense.
Griffin is fine. I enjoyed watching him play in the second half. He was back to being RGIII. I think what helped the most? Having to be in a two minute offense and taking a few good hits. This game is going to be a positive for Griffin down the road. Guarantee he plays a much better, more complete game against Green Bay. Alfred was a little slow to get going - seems like the right side was just not opening running lanes for Morris. He had his best success running behind Trent. Morris has got to hold onto the ball though. I think our wide receivers will be OK. I think we have a solid group at Wide out. I think Hankerson played pretty well, and I think it's just a matter of time before Garcon has a monster game. I'm not worried about the receivers. I am mostly worried about the secondary - but I was last year as well. Mostly, because we have some rookies who just have to go out and play. They have to develop, so we're going to be taking our lumps this season with them. But, they'll improve. All in all, let's not get too upset over this game. Yes, nobody expected this to happen, but it did. I still think this team is solid and has the potential to not only get back into the playoffs, but to go deep in the playoffs this year. Much rather this happen in game one than game sixteen!

That wouldn't have helped with the other miscues, like the fumbles, tackling, blocking, etc. It was team effort. |

Re: Skins v Eagles post game thread
Griffin's comments after the game were spot on: "On offense we had a case of the 'can't get rights'. I don't throw picks, Alf doesn't fumble and Kai doesn't miss kicks. All three of those things happened."
On a side not, I am sorry to announce that JoeReverend is no longer with us. He was unfortunately stoned to death as most false prophets are.

Yup. RGIII did not blow any coverages, etc. Many players looked bad. Everyone looked uninspired, players and coaches alike.

They started out at Bracket Room (new sports bar in Clarendon) then went down to A-town, that's where I saw them. Fred Davis goes there a lot. They all seem like good guys, but CMON MAN! its the season opener on Monday night, take a night off.

Brothers and Sisters! Today is the day in which our team rides forth and breaks through the bonds that have held it back ... the bright lights of Lambeau Field will burn away our disappointment of years past, shine brilliantly upon the team's accomplishments, and light the way through the season! Yay, though we have walked through the valley of disappointment lo these many years, now is the time of our team's rebirth! Let your joy ring forth! Shout out your faith in RGIII, Trent, Morris, Fletcher, Orakpo, Shanahan & the rest of these warriors of the grid iron ... no more shall we reside at the bottom of power polls, no more shall others mock or success as fleeting, no more must we rend our garments with the expectation of loss! Though long suffering, we shall be rewarded by our faith! Henceforth we shall expect to win, our team will find new and innovative ways to maintain our faith and succor our thirst for success. Our voices will be free to shout our team's successes and to expect more! Be thankful and rejoice ... today is a new day and the dawn of a new era. Our fanaticism will be reborn, our faith restored. Drink in the joy, relish the ecstasy, let the waves of victory roll over and through you as you proclaim the power of our team! Hallelujah my brothers and sisters! A new day is upon us. A new future awaits. Rejoice!!

Re: Skins v Eagles post game thread
My chest tightened up after Robert took that hit and reached for his knee. Was very gimpy getting up, but he eventually played "through it" and the Skins rallied. Still not convinced that he's 100%, but he's pretty darn close and as Skinsguy said, he'll look sharper and perhaps move around better vs. Green Bay.
It's one game. It's a long, long season. Still think this team is on the right track. The Eagles jumped on us early because of turnovers, yet somehow we managed to make a game of it. |
