Re: Final Cuts Looming - any surprises on the horizon
Amerson hasn't even played a regular season game yet, might want to pump the brakes on labeling him a bust just yet. I don't think he's been that bad. He's had his ups and downs. Like a rookie usually does.

Had Cousins of been healthy, I would agree with you that he would be gone, but he's hurt and RG3 is coming off a major injury so it wouldn't be wise for Shanahan to cut him so a team like the Jets or Giants (as a backup) sign him for help or knowledge of the playbook. Niles Paul won't be gone. He can return kicks, play special teams and has improved big time from last year. Also Jordan Reed has just started coming along because he's just started practicing. He just started practicing because he's been hurt. Its very risky to cut a guy who does many things for a high potential rookie who hasn't been 100% healthy. If Jordan Reeds gets injured, then its Paulsen and Fred Davis who is about 9 months removed from a torn Achilles. Who would we find out there who knows the playbook as good as Paul? You're probably thinking Paul. But with so many teams losing TE's this year, I can easily see Paul getting picked up by someone else if we cut him. Also you said Thompson makes it as the 4th RB. Is that including our FB? Who's your 4 RBs then if it isn't including Daryl Young?

Amerson has gotten good grades from folks who get paid to know these things. Not outstanding, but good. He's a rookie and is going to make mistakes but, by all accounts has belongs and may challenge for a starting spot somewhere in the not too distant future. From what I have seen, he's been decent and has flashed some really good moments.

Amerson has many more rookie mistakes to make. But such is required for his long-term development. Same goes for Rambo. They're like puppies - you have to put up with some chewed shoes if you want them to turn into awesome dogs.

U guys take too much stock into PS. Amerson will be fine, is he Patrick Peterson? No but not many players are.

I agree with the thought, but honestly, RT is one of the weakest positions across the NFL. I doubt the bubble guys that are going to be cut are going to be any improvement over Polumbus/Pashos. And that is said with a very heavy heart, because as long as Polumbus is on the right side we will have very little success with the basic dropback passing attack.

Re: Final Cuts Looming - any surprises on the horizon
Where are you getting the idea that Amerson didn't play well? He had the one long pass where in did pass interference and a penalty, but i saw a lot of athletic ability and wonderful closing ability on Wide Receivers. He seems to really want to come up and lay a hit.
I thought Wilson was on the bubble with Crawford, but he stays now. This Pat White stuff needs to stop. Hankerson has too much upside to cut him and keep Stallworth instead. |

Josh Wilson is far and away our best corner. He's the only stability we have back there. Also, Amerson has been bad. No reason to sugar coat it, he looks like a deer in headlights in coverage.

Re: Final Cuts Looming - any surprises on the horizon
Did you only watch one play all preseason? The pass interference against the Bills. As for Wilson, he cant cover one on one. He is good when he has safety help over the top because he understands positioning (which is why he was pretty bad all last year, because we had no one who could give help over the top) but other than that, he is below average. Amerson can already cover one on one as good as Wilson.

I don't know if I'd label Amerson as BAD. Inconsistent, yes, but eh, he's a rookie.

Re: Final Cuts Looming - any surprises on the horizon
Who's better than Wilson? Hall? At times. At times, he is much worse than Wilson. Biggers? Okay, not seeing it, but, if not Wilson or Hall, he is next man up. Minnifield? Can we see him a regular season game first.
I mean, Wilson is an average corner. Unfortunately, an average corner is probably our best bet.

Re: Final Cuts Looming - any surprises on the horizon
We're really bashing David Amerson already? Amazing
And yeah Josh Wilson was on the bubble until yesterday. If a team asks you to take a pay cut to stay then you're probably not in their long term plans
