5 must have CDs

Lets say you're on a deserted island with only 5 CDs to listen to, what would you have with you?? Double CDs count as two!

Here's mine:
Bob Marley - Legend
Beastie Boys - Check Your Head
Dave Matthews Band - Under The Table And Dreaming
Tool - Undertow
The Clash - London Calling

Linkin Park: Meteora
Talib Kweli: Quality
Korn: Follow the Leader
Lord of the Rings Return of the King Soundtrack
Sublime Greatest Hits

random yes ,but I'd need something different for whatever mood I'm in.

If I could I'd put them all together as well as some other stuff if I could have burnt mix cds

Re: 5 must have CDs

This is such an impossible question to answer. I would honestly have to say none and rely on my memory to listen to all my favorite music in my head. Having to listen to 5 discs over and over again would drive me insane.

Re: 5 must have CDs

Well let me refer to my voluminous memory bank to recall what albums stand out the most in my mind:

1. Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers- Greastest Hits (Go-Go music is still my inspiration and Chuck Brown belongs in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame).

2.Donny Hathaway-A Song For You

3.Marvin Gaye-What's Going On

4.Stevie Wonder- Songs in the Key of Life

5.Karen Clark Sheard-A Balm in Gilead

Sunra and I should jam out one day

1. Stevie wonder- Anything and everything
2. Earth, Wind, and Fire - Essiential album
3 Frank Sinatra - Greatest Hits
4.Joni Mitchell- Blue
5. Marvin Gaye- Greatest motown hits

I never really looked into Donny Hathaway stuff; I only know him from Roberta Flack Duets.

You know Bushead my girlfriend bought a copy of Donny Hathaway Live. Like you, I was only aware of his duets with Roberta Flack. But when I listened to this man pour his heart and soul out on this album in front of a intimate audience I was convinced that many of the singers like George Benson, Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder were inspired by his delivery and musicianship. With that said, go get that CD "Donny Hathaway Live."

Note: Donny Hathaway was a graduate of Howard University, where he met Roberta Flack. Donny was a student of Classical music as well as Country music because of the stories it told. He wrote so many scores for movie soundtracks in the seventies and was on the verge of becoming an ultimate composer of his own symphony. He truly was blessed with the ability to bring true R & B to the mainstream yet his life like so many brilliant artist came to end when he committed suicide in a NY Hotel. Dealing with lifes up and downs took it's toll on him mentally. He was committed to a mental hospital several times. I'm glad that his widow and daughter Lalah Hathaway allowed his CD to be released.

Re: 5 must have CDs

what if i have a mp3 cd/dvd player (with 200-1200 songs per disc)?

lots of scandanavian death metal for sure, but i got lots of rock, industrial, motown etc too, so i'd just take everything... cause the batteries don't really care how many CDs i've got.

Destiny's Child-really doesn't matter what cd, I just want something pretty to look at

There would be so many other CDs I'd want though. Tough, but good, question
