God showed himself tonight!
You know, I don't know if many of you are believers, but I am and I'm pretty sure Joe Gibbs is too. So before the game tonight I said a little prayer for God to use the game tonight as well Joe Gibbs to the better and for a few various reasons. I prayed that he would be with Coach Gibbs and all the Redskins and use them for his will and to farther my personal experiences (wich I shall keep somewhat personal).
Now one thing I've learned all my life as a christian is that God loves to test your faith. This is the number one thing... the good Lord loves to see what you have deep down inside before he shows himself. And tonight was no exception. After that prayer, I began to watch the game, and was given a little tease when I visualised the first Cowboy Field goal missing wide, then conjured up a little faith and it happened. Then as the game went on and we started to stink up the joint with all those little dinks and dunks, I felt myself losing a little control of my optimism. And of coarse the real test began when Brunell threw that first interception. At that point I had began to sink and forget the very fact that the Lord loves a test. Later, I would remind my self of the test that we are all put through with our faith, and and I began to regain some of that faith I had, and reminded my self of how mysteriously he does work. And through out the rest of the game, I kept reminding my self of that. And as the game looked like it was all over, at that critical moment, I sat down on my knees, closed my eyes, and said "Lord, I do believe!" Then I opened them to watch the very next play and BOOM! Santanna Moss catches a 50 yard bomb for a Touchdown. At that point, I was rejoicing and I knew in my heart that the Lord would help us to a win. But of coarse, as I mentioned before, he likes to test your faith and sometimes tease you. So the Cowboys march down and get close to kicking a field goal. But then as quick as you can get down, a couple cowboy penalties reasure the faith you've just conjured up. So then the Redskins get the ball back, and closed my eyes and said, "I know in my heart we will win this thing by your power, and I will give you the credit you deserve." That was the moment when the Lord showed himself again. That exact moment, Santanna Moss goes deep and the ball is guided right between the Cowboy defenders hands directly into Santanna Moss's Hands and he runs right in the end zone for the game winning touchdown! I instantly gave thanks. Now of coarse, remembering that he loves to test our faith, again he decides to let the cowboys get very close to having the play to get them enough yards to be in field goal range. But I never doubted beyond Santanna's big Touchdown, and in the end the Lord rewarded that faith. Now one thing to take note of is that I didn't pray for the Cowboys to lose or for the Redskins to win. I think that would the wrong thing to do when I know that God loves all people. But what I did pray was for him to be with Coach Gibbs and all the Redskins and to use them to build my faith and I had made a promise that I would give him credit for doing so. And that is exactly what happened. Now I'm not trying to preach here or anything. It's just that after this glorious win and all that I've just experienced, I felt the right thing to do would be to share this experience with you. And as Coach Gibbs just said, (and I quote "The Lord led us to a great experience here; (he) let us enjoy this great experience." And absolutely, tonight was a test of faith in wich the least bit of faith was rewarded and I just want to enjoy this experience with all of my fellow Redskins fans! I feel so bonded with you all at the moment! I haven't been through a experience / something this sensational in a very long time!

Re: God showed himself tonight!
I know the power of prayer. It's real and it has to do with our personal relationship to God. All last week I visualized what the game would look like. Who would make the big plays and what the outcome would be. Never once did I see Coach Gibbs hang his head down. I saw a close game, but I wanted to believe that we would blow them out. Sometimes a victory by a single point can be more devastating than a blowout. All blessings are from above. Never forget this Redskins fans.

Prayer is a good thing.
Gibbs is a good coach. Hopefully all the Gibbs naysayers have already found new teams. Faith is an incredible thing. Tonight we overcame the virtually impossible.

It especially hit home when today I just remembered of how Abraham was tested by GOD when he was told to sacrafice his son, Isaac whom he was given as a blessing in his ripe old age of infertility. And how once Abraham proved his faith, it turned out he didn't have to sacrafice him after all.

I am not the most "religious" person, but I think God/Allah/Yaweh did show himself last night.

Joe Gibbs kneels in prayer in the game's final moments.
http://www.redskins.com/uploads/phot..._E7T4985PG.jpg very rarely do i feel that outside forces are working in sports, yesterday i did. Sometimes it is good or bad but yesterday there was something, whether it be God or a curse broken there was something very unreal about yesterday's game. without being to religious i feel that there are different things working in games, not just God, i always refer to the God of football. I too gave a prayer last night, numerous times but i seriously just can't remember at what points during the game, one was definatly right after the game. I just noticed that this was my 1000th post, that has got to be a good sign Last edited by BigSKINBauer; 09-20-2005 at 11:51 PM. |

Re: God showed himself tonight!
Not to be disrespectful, but with a whole bunch of our servicemen and women getting killed on some endless beach, and with thousands of families homeless, not to mention the millions dying of starvation and disease in Africa... I don't know if God had time to watch football last night... Again, inspiration is a great thing and if this game reaffirms a persons faith than that's truly wonderful, but to think that God has a rooting interest... I don't know. I don't want to disrespect anyone...
