Do you trust Gibbs?

Here's a poll to bring back in about 6 months for review.

Simple question, do you trust the man?

Re: Do you trust Gibbs?

I voted no, I don't believe he honored his word in giving [what everyone knew he said] Ramsey the starters job, I believe he paid lip service to him all the while looking for any excuse to get the teachers pet back on the field, if Brunell was doing something spectacular last year, or this, it would be another story, but he hasen't, what was so great about his preseason? Everyone looks at it being great, comparitivly to what he did last year, yes, which was nothing.

Did Gibbs make Ramsey his starter? Yes. Did he back him like other QB's he's had? Absolutly not! Gibbs himself has stated in the past that perhaps his loyalty to his starters may be a little extreme, well not in Patricks case, which tells me he really in his heart did not keep his word, all he did is pay lip service to buy Brunell some time and let the memory of one of the worst QB performances and rating's through the first 9 games in NFL history soften a bit to get his boy back on the field and justify a 42 million dollar blunder which is his fault, and his fault alone!

Re: Do you trust Gibbs?

I am also tired of this fumbled twice nonesense, he didn't turn the ball over on one of those, shall we count the INT's Brunell would have had last year, and to come, when they go throw a defenders hands? Portis had a fumble as well should we bench him? Ramsey had 1 bad throw, the 1 fumble we did lose he has hammered in the throat like he was a member of the WWF, after throwing a TD I might add, which what else is new a ref who can't see our WR's getting raped downfield see's something no one else see's and negates a TD.

Re: Do you trust Gibbs?

I am working under the impression that Gibbs knows that the offense isn't producing enough to win consistently and QB is the reason. He didn't say that Brunell is the answer yesterday, he said he is looking for someone to step up and become the QB of the Redskins and lead them.

He has zero confidence in Ramsey and let's take emotion out of it and look at facts, Ramsey has done nothing to instill that confidence. He started and lost in 3 games last year that exceptional QB play would have led to victory (Pittsburgh, Philly, Dallas) which would have put us inthe playoffs. He was 2 TD-4 INT in the pre-season, he fumbled twice and threw an INT on the opening series in the opener. That's not going to cut it for an NFL QB. If it were Boller (for example) doing that we all would be saying how much he sucked and laughing at the Ravens.. He had his chances, crapped the bed last preseason and didn't win the job, didn't excel in the regular season when he got a chance and didn't shine in the preseason or the opener. I don't know why any of us are suprised or offended that Gibbs made an obvious choice.

So, yes, I trust him.

we're surprised because Brunell had more chances, "won" the preseason, was the worst QB in the NFL last year, and did worse than Ramsey in the same regular season offense. three drives into the regular season isn't enough time to even begin to shine.

You are correct
But he owes it to the fans, management and the players to start he QB that gives them the best chance to win.

Gibbs has been making mistakes handling players, but i trust him to do the best for the team no matter how bad it makes him look.

Wow, tough words, but I can't say I really disagree with them. I've been very troubled with how Gibbs has handled the entire QB issue for the Skins ever since he returned as coach. I can't recall that he has ever really praised any of Ramsey's efforts. But it seems like all Brunell has to do is smile and Gibbs is effusive in his praise. I just don't get it, because Brunell has done NOTHING to deserve that level of confidence since he's been here.

I am just so disgusted that the Skins are, once again, embroiled in controversy and so early in the season. It was, IMO, totally unnecessary and it was Gibbs' botched handling of the QBs that has brought this all on. Can't be good for the team to have this major distraction right before Dallas.

However, this could be like last year when there was all that internal strife among the Giants because of practice start times (or something like that) and we were all like "This will be a cakewalk, the Giants are spending too much time beating each other. They can't beat us"

Well, wouldn't it you know it. They could and did

Forgot about that, you're right. Maybe the team can use all of this as a rallying point (as if they should need one against the hated Cowboys)!

"In Gibbs I Trust" when it comes down to football.

He sees all, he knows all when it comes down to this team. If he benched Portis for no reason "WE" see I would still trust his intentions and ability to win.

He's the Golden Coach with the Golden Touch.

Re: Do you trust Gibbs?

Simple question - not a simple answer.

I trust Gibbs to make the decisions that he feels are best to elevate this franchise to its former glory. Therefore, I vote yes.

However, my fear is that there is now an element of distrust on the team. Every member of that starting offense was told that the franchise had faith in Patrick Ramsey - and the history of faith in a starting quarterback lasts longer than 19 minutes (see Brunell, Mark - 2004). Those players who made a bond with Ramsey based on the stated faith in Ramsey have reason to question the things that come out of their coach's mouth now.
