Skins Bye Week, Mid Season Report
How are we feeling about the team...likes/dislikes? 3-4 Is right at what I expected.
Offense Ranked 26th Yards 22nd Points - Passing is about middle of road, running the ball yardage has decreased slowly now to 21st in the league Defense Ranked 16th Yards 16th Points Special Teams: much better than last year and has slowly improved since the beginning of the year. The Kicker change was huge and we done better in coverage. We have eliminated alot of the penalities, which is a killer especially on teams since the beginning of the year. When it comes down to the eye test, we seem much more competitive than the last 2 years. Gruden is doing a better job, but I think the coaching staff additions in the offseason may be more of the reason. Callahan and Fewell have done an outstanding job with their units. Secondary has been better than expected and they have dealt with the most injuries. Great: the rookie class: Jarrett, Smith, Crowder, Schreff and Jones making huge strides. Clutch plays: a couple last minute wins. Good: Oline: Especially Trent and Moses(we dont talk enough about Moses-he's been killing it), new Kicker Hopkins, Breeland, Jordan Reed and Chris Baker. Bad: Run defense, Paea, Alfmo, and Injuries. QB situation is always talked about but I think Cousins is still the guy I thought he was...limited. Let's see if he can grow this second half, we dont have any other options. Thoughts on the first half? Surprises? Disappointments? |

I'm surprised we can still be optimistic about our offense this late in the season. I think our kickers have more to do with that than anyone else, including QB. Other than that, losing record (check), Garcon's efforts being wasted (check), lousy defense (check), the season has been pretty much what I expected and feared.

We are pretty much where I thought we'd be. Several more games are on the schedule that we can win. New Orleans, Chicago, Buffalo, Dallas. Maybe we get to 7 or 8 wins?

If we get those injured players back, we can have a better record the second half. The OL will get better, hopefully our running game and run D also improve.

7-8 would be a nice improvement and something to build on. |

Yeah - I think I see progress. We have several winnable games in the last nine. Be nice if we could win two or three in a row.

Re: Skins Bye Week, Mid Season Report
I thought going into the season we were a 7-8 win team if everything went perfect. It hasn't and somehow we could still see 7-8 wins. I guess mostly because the NFC East is so awful. We're mediocre which is what we've been for years. But I do think we're seeing some fundamental improvements that we haven't seen in a long time. Long term figuring out the QB sit is the biggest deal but for now it is what it is.

We need to be patient. They say patience is a virtue, you know. Personally, I don't mind being patient with the Redskins as long as they hurry the f*** up and win their division this season!

Re: Skins Bye Week, Mid Season Report
I'm not going to try to predict who we'll be after the bye. I just take solace in two things: One, the NFC East is absolutely dreadful so really any of these terrible teams have a shot. Two, we're better than the Ravens so working is Baltimore is completely bearable right now.

This is a true exchange I had with a Ravens fan: Ravens Fan: You're a Redskins fan? I hate the Redskins! In fact, I hate everything about D.C. Tell me, what do people in D.C. think about Baltimore? Me: To tell you the truth, we don't.

Re: Skins Bye Week, Mid Season Report
I thought we would be a 7 or 8 win team, so I think we're on track. The best thing to see this season is what a very good GM can do to improve the team through the draft and FA. Also, we have added several coaches who are immediately making improvements on their portion of the team.
We won't get significantly above average until the QB spot is filled with a franchise QB. Don't know if KC is that guy, but its refreshing to see a younger player fighting for that spot and not worried about other aspects of the game or social media. |

Re: Skins Bye Week, Mid Season Report
One thing I think we can all agree on, when Jordan Reed is in the game he is a top 5 TE
