Freddie Mitchell as a Redskin?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...050601339.html
Jesus I hope we don't go after this guy. We've got enough #3 wideouts on the roster and I don't care for a guy with an ego, unless thier name is Clinton Portis. What do you guys think? |

Re: Freddie Mitchell as a Redskin?
well we already kinda knew about this, but i'll say it again. the fo must be getting high if they even think about signing "fredex". he can take his trash talking, stupid egotistical mind and go someplace else. i wouldn't be suprised if he never got an offer.

Re: Freddie Mitchell as a Redskin?
exactly. who trash talks the other team, loses in the most horrible fashion ever, then goes back, trash talks about them again, then starts bad mouthing his teammates for not defending him. then he complains about not catching enough balls. mcnabb saw him, he even passed it to him. there are no excuses when you drop passes like he did in the super bowl. freddie mitchell isn't going to have a job for a very long time, unless someone gets really desperate and all their top receivers get injured.

Re: Freddie Mitchell as a Redskin?
Maybe McCants and Brown are #4 WR's, but I think Thrash is a very good option at #3 wr. Also Brown may be listed as a WR but he is our return specialist, meaning that he will see little if any time at wr during a game...
Gardner would make for an excellent #3 wr due to his inconsistancy. Also until last year McCants was our third option... I maybe wrong but I think that he is saying that Moss and Jacobs/Patten will be the starting 2 wr's, so between Jacobs and Patten one of them will be #3 along with Thrash, McCants, and Gardner if we keep him. So thats 4 wr's that all have enough talent to be the #3 WR. If we would add "Fred Ex" than that would make 5 wr's fighting for the #3 spot. As you can see I am not counting Brown because his talents are needed mostly on Special Teams...

Jacobs is a very solid #2 prospect possibly #1 material...He has great speed, good route running...not great... Gibbs even addressed the issue today or yesterday I believe or why we did not pick a WR...He said that Jacobs has been very impressive in practice. Patten is a solid #2 or #3. People talk up Thrash like he is a God...Show me a very good #3 receiver in this league and compare them....You cant....he is at best a #4....#4 receivers spend most of the time on ST...#5 receivers are replacements for the #4 and ST only ...but Brown will be our returner and #4 this year....Bye Thrash we got a younger more skilled player that impresses the coach more than you. Mitchell doesnt really fit in. Where do you put him? #5? He wont go for that. Thrash wont want to be a #5. McCants might. Holiday would love it. Maybe it is a good philosophy to pack yourself with talent at every position. If you have 5 - #1 receivers I guarantee you will get alot more done than if you have 5 - #5 receivers.

Re: Freddie Mitchell as a Redskin?
Joe won't cut Thrash. He is a dedicated player, v popular with his team mates and staff and a solid sepcial teams guy. How many times has Gibbs made comments about Thrash being an example of a perfect Redskin siince he got here. Also, although a vet- he is cheap.

As for Thrash, what are you smoking? Gibbs will not cut Thrash, period. Thrash is not God by any means, but he has alot of upside and if you watched games last year he was our #3, he was ahead of Jacobs on the depth chart. You apparently have Brown slated to be our #4 meaning that Thrash is our #5 or is that McCants? I hate to say it but Brown will not be our #4, if he was good enough to be #4 wr material then why didnt any other team pick him up last year. He was only signed on for the last 3 or 4 games last year after being let go by buffalo after 2003. Moss, Jacobs, Patten, Thrash, McCants that is going to be the 5 WR's next year and you can take that to the bank!!! Brown will hopefully be taking Chad Mortons spot once he is let go June 1st.

you are absolutely right, every team needs a certain number of "roll players" and thrash is the perfect one. he is great on special teams and he is a solid # 3 wr. he won't complain about anything, he'll just do what the coaches ask of him. patten also fits the bill of "roll player" in a way. while i really like patten and think he'll be a great wr for the skins, i'm realistic and i understand he could be the teams #1,2 or 3 wr but regardless of whether patten is #1, #2 or #3 he will not complain. he will also do what is asked of him. |

Re: Freddie Mitchell as a Redskin?
Gardner will either be traded or cut for cap room so that we are able to sign our rookies
