Redskins Coaching Vacancies

No Special Teams Coach

No Wide Receivers Coach and now

No Director of Player Development:

Phillip Daniels out as Redskins director of player development

Im really surprised.

Who we got filling these roles? Who do we want to see in there? Does anybody else need to go? Not a fire Shanny thread please.

Daniels tweeted a while back that he was looking for a coaching job this year.

I wonder if some at Redskins park were a little put off by his open admission that the Skins ran a bounty program under Gregg Williams....

I hope he got that coaching job. I don't see Director of Player Development being a hard role to fill if Phillip Daniels can do it with no experience. I am curious to see who we get to coordinate special teams and coach the wideouts though.

Bob Slowick!! He's Shanahan's coaching Swiss army knife.

I say Steve Spagnuolo for special teams coordinator. Ha, ha. That would be awesome, but I can't see him stooping to that level.

Special Teams Coach= Gary Clark or someone his same type of personality-- Fire!

Wide Receivers Coach= Rod Smith

Director of Player Development=someone else who wants to get into coaching bad enough to babysit.

Re: Redskins Coaching Vacancies

Maybe we could bring in Albert Hansworth to be Director of Player Development.

What the heck does the Director of Player Development do anyway? Play board games with the guys after practice, or host Texas Hold'em Tournaments?

Helps guys who are just coming out of college transition into a major lifestyle change. Even though being an NFL player has a lot of glamour associated, it is a huge change for most players, and a good director of player development certainly goes a long way towards keeping your younger players out of the headlines for the wrong reason. At least as I understand it.

edit. wrong wiki link
Meh, maybe he'll be great, maybe not. Will certainly get a fair chance here, and I think we have a pretty good core ST unit, so let's see what he can do.
