Seahawks Redskins Rookie Showdown

Let's get this started!

I am nervous about this one.

Good read but not to calm your nerves.

Re: Seahawks Redskins Rookie Showdown

Seattle has a pretty good oline and Lynch, I think it will come down to whether or not we can stop their run consistently and force Wilson to win the game on the road. Our offense will be able to put up points, depending on how well our defense can get off the field.

I don't expect our offense to put up a lot of points. Seattle just hasn't allowed it in any of their games. The most they have allowed is 28 points, but generally they have allowed in the teens. And they won't be unprepared for our offense, they held Carolina and SF to 12 and 13 points respectively. And they only gave up 23 to NE. We need to figure out how Miami and Detroit scored 24 and 28. I definitely think we need to be able to score 21 or more points to win the game.

Exactly what I was thinking, around low 20's like 21 or 24. But that defense does play differently on the road, obviously the home field advantage has a lot to do with teams not being able to score on them.

Re: Seahawks Redskins Rookie Showdown

Nothing in the stats or schedule info will calm your nerves either. These two teams parallel each other, with the exception that they have the cb's that we would die for.

In common opponent games (which there aren't many) They beat the Cowboys 27-7, beat @Carolina 16-12, and split with the Rams.

I do think you have to definitely just discount the Arizona and Buffalo games as aberrations, and even the SF game in Seattle was due in large part to the crowd, and the 49ers not being able to be coherent in the first half of the game.

That said, Seattle is a tough team, and they figured out a lot about road wins against Chicago and Buffalo, so they will come in confident. I don't expect a 200 yard game from Morris so this game will fall on Griffin, Paulsen and Cooley. Garcon and the WR's will still be depended on for their blocking, and stretching the field. But Seattle will be ready for our base pistol formation and any zone read plays.

As for our defense, I think they are up to the task, and the one good thing is that I think we can keep their TE's in check. I don't think the blitz heavy scheme that worked against Dallas will work against Wilson, so I hope Haslett did a lot of homework Monday and Tuesday.

Did I mention this is going to be a tough game? One big advantage is homefield, the west to east flight is the hardest to make, remember they lost to Miami in Miami right before there win streak started. I also think it's good that St. Louis played them tough, we can use that tape especially in prepping for them.

Skittles defense is vunarable to the run and they are not the same team at home vs the road. Haslett gonna have to mix it up on defense.

The Redskins are 5-3 at Fed Ex Field this year. The Seahawks are 3-5 on the road this year. How is Seattle 2 1/2 point favorites to win this game? The Redskins should be favorite at home. The Redskins defensively have done excellent against the run and average against the pass.

I expect Coach Haz to dial up those exotic blitzes on Russell Wilson.

Offensively, the Redskins 5th ranked offense will be interesting to watching against the Seahawks 4th ranked defense. Both Alfred Morris and RG3 running the football may help set up the play action pass.

Oddsmakers think Seattle is a little better than we are. The two option read QB's that they have faced they have totally shut it down. RG3 isn't 100%. Plus they probably have a better defense than we do and are around the same on offense. Those are probably the reasons they're slightly favored.

I am completely fine being the underdog. I think this game will be up to the defense to win or lose. I expect the Seahawks D will stack the LOS and control our run game. The WRs need to be on point for this game and bring their A-game.

Being at Fedex is a huge advantage; mainly because it is not in SEA.

Their WRs don't scare me at all. If we shut down the run, I think we're good. No team has shown they can stop us offensively and until someone does, then I have no reason to believe we won't score on them. Wasn't Cleveland a top ten scoring defense? We all know how that worked out...

1) Yes their WRs don't scare me; but Golden Tate can jump and play a lot bigger than he actually is, and and Doug Baldwin can make some occassional plays, depends if he wants to show up this weekend. Sidney Rice was a top 10 WR with Favre, maybe he can catch on with Russell for the playoffs. But again I think we should be fine in the pass defense department.

2) Yes if we shut down the run we will win. But thats what Seattle is good at and thats easier said than done. You know how many teams have said "If we shut down Tom Brady, we'll win". Like I said easier said than done.

3) Yes the Steelers, Panthers, Bengals and Rams showed us how to beat our offense. (Hint Collapse the ends onto the QB).

4) No cleveland wasn't a top 10 scoring defense.

I think it really comes to this: If the Redskins can get pressure and CONTAIN Russell Wilson, then we will win, but he is really slippery out of the pocket and moves like a video game. It'll be tough, real tough. I would spy Wilson with Riley and use more fast pass rushers like Chris Wilson. Also do lots of CB blitzes.

Re: Seahawks Redskins Rookie Showdown

The best thing about our offense, which is awesome by the way, is that we can and do attack all the areas of the field. This game may very well be dominated by mid length passes, which means the TE's and Morgan/Moss should have big games and if they do, we will win.

Another point of similarity is turnovers. We are +17 (31 takeaway/14 giveaways), they are +14 (31/18).

These two teams are so similar it is amazing. And both young. Remember, we took Trent Williams, they took Okung. and both have built up in similar manners. I doubt this is the last playoff meeting between these two teams.
