Camp Battles- The journey to 53
This is a thread to discuss our many camp batlles.
Beck Vs. Grossman Running backs WR's Let's talk camp battles and how things are progressing. I think the Skins should keep both Royster and Helu. I would go with Hightower Helu Royster Torian - get's hurt too often. Young Williams I would drop Sellars. Wideouts Terrance Austin over Banks

Because we have not seen Torian I am tempted to cut him. These kids are younger healthier options.

Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
I doubt it -- torain was having a pretty nice season for us and his experience alone gives him an advantage over royster and helu. Torain, Helu, and Hightower will make the roster with Royster going to the PS -- that being said, I hope we can hang on to Royster and not have someone claim him

Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
Alot of folks are talking about how many wideouts will we keep but I think we will keep more runners because that is going to be a more inportant part of this years offense.

Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
QB: grossy, becky, kelly
RB: hightower, helu, torrain (royster to PS) WR: moss, gaff, stall, arm, hank, ?? (paul to PS, maybe robinson too, last spot is probably banks, since we won't ever need that many receivers, but might be austin) TE: cooley, davis, paulsen FB: keiland, young (though young could be stashed another year if they want sellers for STs) OL: trent, brown, hicks, licht, chester, locklear, monty, ??, ?? (we need 2 more bodies, because the guys we're keeping in those last two spots are going to be pretty worthless, and normally we keep another 1-2 on the PS.. weakest depth spot) |

Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
ST: gano, rocca, sundberg
DL: Bryant, Cofield, Bowen, Carriker, Golston, Jenkins (neild to PS) LB: rakpo, kerry, fletch, blades, rocky, lorenzo, perry, fox? S: landry, OA, moore, gnomes, doughty CB: hall, wilson, k barnes, buchanon, westbrook that's 53, i think you can do 55 now though, so that's 1 LB, 2 OL and 2 ?? spots that don't have a really strong option right now. maybe we could keep 7 WRs :P or mike sellers... or both! |

So you you have Gnomes making the team over Horton? I can live with that. Horton really hasn't been the same from a couple of years ago when he was racking up interceptions and then later got injured. It would be nice if all the Huskers made the active roster. |

Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
yeah, I just don't see the spot for him. doughty is no world beater, and if he's starting, your team's in trouble (just not fast enough), but he's competent and horton has just looked... awful. too many blown coverages. gomes had a couple good plays and hasn't seemed any worse, and he fights less .

I said it then and I will say it now. Those picks and recoveries were "look what I found" instances and were not predicated on any particular skill or anything that he was doing aside from executing the play. He got lucky. Players of much better talent have not recieved that amount of luck in such a short time frame. |

It has been 2 years since I last heard Horton's name on the field. He is as good as gone. Unless Gnomes is sent to the practice squad. One advantage Horton does have is that he's pretty big and physical and in a 3-4 defense that's a must for a strong safty.

Re: Camp Battles- The journey to 53
QB: Beck , Grossman, Kellen,
RB: Hightower, Helu, Torain FB: DY TE: Cooley, Davis, Paulsen WR: Moss, Gaffney, Armstrong, Hankerson, Austin, Paul T: Twilliams, Sean Locklear, Jamaal Brown G: Lichtenstreigher, Chris Chester, Artis Hicks, C: Montgomery 23 DE: Jarvis, Carriker, Bowen, Scott DT: Cofield, Bryant, OLB: Orakpo, Kerrigan, Rob Jackson, Lorenzo, Gibson ILB: Fletch, Rocky, Fox, Riley SS: Gomes, Landry, Horton FS: Otogwe, Doughty, Moore CB: Hall, Wilson, Barnes, Buchanon, westbrook 26 ST: Sundberg, Rocca, Gano 3 1 spot left open, I'd give that edge to Royster. (Could be Brandon Banks, or Keiland, or Mike Sellers, but he's a 4th string TE, Keilands and undrafted guy who had some production last year but Roysters been drafted so he gets the edge there. BB is good but injury and fumble prone and plays Returner only, where as royster would be a RB, 3rd down back (good pass protector), and a special teams player, even has been looked at as a returner.

If they're serious about getting younger...and better...it's time for Sellers to go.
One kind of interesting thing, I hear that in practice they've been running a lot of plays this past week with Key Williams as the primary 3rd down back, not as a FB. So not sure what could mean.
