Can Colt Brennan beat Rex Grossman for number 2 spot

I wanted to change pace a little with all the McNabb talk and look at the second string QB position. Grossman vs. Brennan... sure it could be said that Colt might not even make it on the roster, in this scenario lets say he does. How can he leapfrog Grossman? I know if I was Colt I would be sitting in Kyle's hip pocket and practicing everyday like it's my last.

I know nothing about Colt's work ethic or film study skills, but with Campbell on his way out the door this is the best time for Brennan to step it up. I want to hear from the fans that know this kid really and can explain it to me if he has what it takes to make a difference as the back up for the redskins.

This is the sort of nonsense i only expect to find on ES.

Brennan has a 0.00% chance to be our #2 QB.
Brennan has a 0.01% chance to be our #3 QB.

So I think the more appropriate question would be:

Can Colt Brennan convince Shanahan to devote 4 roster spots to the QB position to ensure that Brennan has a 1% chance to be the 4th QB?

umm Campbell will likely be moved.. if not Brennan probably won't make it

if he is, Brennan has a good shot unless we draft somebody

there's no need to trim down the number of QBs yet

what on earth makes you think we won't draft a QB? The reality is that you and I have got as much a chance at being the #3 QB on the team as Brennan does.

That is so funny. Almost as funny as this love affair people have with Colt Brennan

^ what has been an indication to you that after bringing in McNabb and with the limited amount of draft picks that they will STILL spend a pick on a QB? I think honest you are way off base here...

Shanahan is going to want to draft his own project QB. I'm certain we'll acquire more picks before the draft, but if we just go through the draft with the picks we have, we'll probably spend our 4th or 5th round pick on a QB. If we acquire more picks, I think its possible we select one earlier.

We wouldn't have brought in Grossman if we were planning on keeping PJ15. Brennan is a goner.

Meh. They're both doo doo. One of them won't be on the 53 man, because we're going to bring a rookie QB into the fold.

Yes, because 4th and 5th round draft picks are so easily developed into PRO BOWL/H.O.F. quarterbacks.

Re: Can Colt Brennan beat Rex Grossman for number 2 spot

I think Brennan has great upside especially in Shanni's version of the west coast. I think Rex is a lot better than people think though. I don't see Brennan overtaking Rex in one preseason but hopefully they keep him as the 3rd. I just hate to see Brennan go to another team and blow up. It wont be worth the "told u so" in the end. I'm glad Campbells no longer in the realistic scenario. He's a good guy and it really wouldn't hurt so much if he went to another team and did well. I doubt him being anything more than mediocre is in the cards though.

McNabb is only going to be around 4-5 seasons tops. Grossman only has a one year contract, so he is fodder, but if called in and he plays good he will stay. Shanny is going to have fun with Donovan, but that isn't going to be his man. Donovan=Brunell til the kid is ready to go. Brennan at best is a third string QB. Remember if we didn't take him, nobody would have in the draft probably. And Chase Daniel came off as more poised and more efficient than Colt. If Chase was 6'2", Brennan would be back in Hawaii working at a surf pro shop. We will go QB in 2011 or 2012. If the rest of the NFL didn't want Brennan, there is a reason for that. Just like JC will only garner us a 3 round pick. Also you forget about the JC trade coming up. We might get our picks back for 2010 yet.
