Headphones
Any suggestions on a good pair of headphones for the gym. Like to stay under $100.
Thanks!

Re: Headphones
Bose headphones are $100 if you got the IPOD...they f*cking rock and I have no trouble keeping them in when running...

You can get a pair of these Sony's at Target or Best Buy in the $79 range ($56 on amazon). Very comfortable and great full range sound for ear buds. Great reviews as well. ![]() If you're ever looking for at home listening though for your computer or ipod then studio headphones in the $60-$100 range would serve you well but I recommend the sony's if you're going with ear buds. Also if anyone wants to go the studio route I've heard good things about Sennheiser Sennheiser HD428 Closed Back Around the Ear Headphone: Shop Pro Audio & Other Musical Instruments | Musician's Friend Also if you ever go up in budget DO NOT get Beats headphones. Every Best Buy I go to half the pairs are snapped or broken. Not worth the $300. Quote:

Re: Headphones
![]() Regular ear buds fall out on me when im running or moving a lot, these have clips that make it completely worry free. I also personally think ear buds can be bad for your hearing (just my opinion) so i usually wear these a little loose, which you cant do with regular ear buds. I also think these are much more comfortable than just plain ear buds you see all the kids wearing. The cord is also extra long which is something else very important to me when i work out. I prefer to hold my phone/music player in my hand when running and drop it in my pocket when im walking, warming up, doing pushups, stretching, riding a bike, mowing the grass or whatever else. I wear my shirt over the cord so it isnt flying around everywhere. I have an arm band but once I put my phone in it I cant really check my pace, time myself accurately when running or change/skip a song on my playlist or pandora station without slowing down. Plus once im cooling down or taking a break I can easily start play around w my phone without having to remove it from my armband. Basically I have an armband I don’t use if anyone wants it. I think these sound pretty good, but not great. I dont think ive have ever used a ear bud with great sound though. These sound as good or better then the any other ear bud ive used. The only time i personally want good sound is when im taking a break or half assing it. When im working hard i just need something to keep me going.

Re: Headphones
You're in for an experience on this. I spent probably an entire year searching for gym usable ear phones. Any over the ear models were totally out for obvious reasons. Relegated to the ear bud types I then went on a sojourn of something like 10 pairs. Between quality issues and ear comfort it was a major pain in the ass. In general the more expensive ones sounded great but had fit issues or were uncomfortable. I tried several...the Bose were sound superior but didn't work for running(fell out) and were surprisingly not the most comfortable. Sony's were a flop..they fell out a lot. Never tried the Senn's. Tried a few high end Phillips that sounded good and seemed good quality. But alas I had the same falling out issue. Then I decided to screw sound quality(hell I'm running half the time..the sound quality is going to be hard to appreciate anyways). That opened up the comfort and fit options. JVC makes an Air-cushion set that has like a spongy foam ear piece that never falls out and hasn't once hurt my ears. MY cat chewed the ear-piece up and I almost killed her. The sound is probably only slightly above average. Not bad(no tinnyness or flatness) but nothing special for sure. But functionally they are head and shoulders above. Head phones under $40 are going to all have quality issues, at least most likely. And being used in the gym they're gonna be used in an overly active way. I suspect anything more than a year out them will be a bonus.
Long story short...depending on your ears it could be easy or hard to ind something that will work. |

Re: Headphones
Yeah headphones are definitely an individual thing. Along with the Senns I also use a cheap pair of skull candy phones ($15) from Target for the gym and they're great. I agree about not getting too hung up on the sound. I just want something that's not going to fall out of my ears when I'm working out.

Re: Headphones
I decide to keep my comfy no good sounding Sony ones. It wraps around your ear, ear buds never have worked for me ever.

Re: Headphones
Over the ear? Like behind the head or over the head? Or over the ear like.. Not ear buds?
I really wish I had the money to afford... ![]()
