Top Redskins Moments of the Decade

I figure this is something a little bit different as Dasel and I were discussing sports on AIM kind of along these lines....

What is your top and worst Redskins "moment" of the past decade?

My Best: Even though we've been pretty bad overall, theres alot of good memories from the decade, Moss's TD in 08 against Saints, His TD in the playoffs @ Seattle, Monday Night Miracle, Portis' first touch against Tampa, ST's touchdown in Philly... but I dont think I've ever had a "moment" when I absolutley lost my shit like when we beat Dallas at FedEx in 2006. I've just never seen the Redskins pull something out of their ass like they did against Dallas at that game to block the feild goal, have Sean Taylor return it and Novak win it... even though the game was pretty much meaningless overall, it was a moment I'll never forget.

Worst: Losing to the Bills after Gibbs double time out in the Sean Taylor game. I've had plenty of moments when I've been just irate at the team, but I couldnt really be too mad that week given the events, but I really never felt lower as a fan...

Best Moment: Too many, Moss's 2 Touchdowns to beat Dallas in the Monday Night Miracle, Sean Taylor's touchdown against Philly, the blocked Field goal was great too against Dallas.

Worst Moment: Losing to the Bucs with a 13-0 halftime lead 14-13 which would of put us in the NFC Championship. I actually cried after losing that game when we botched the 52 yard attempt to win it. Ahh that game still hurts.

This one definitely ranks up there. Probably number 2.. maybe number 1 for me, but it didn't have the same emotion attached as the Bills game

Lucky for me, while I was a big Redskins fan at the time and pretty devistated by the feild goal miss, I was not as attached as I am right now (probaboly cause I was still playing football at the time and had that to worry about)... but man if we did that today... I dont know if I'd be able to watch football again.

Re: Top Redskins Moments of the Decade

No particular order...

Best:
- Gibbs' return.
- Ring of Horror game.
- Beating the Giants (eventual champs) in the Meadowlands with Todd Collins sending us on a roll to the playoffs in 2007. One of the gutsiest wins after the ST fiasco.
- Gibbs' challenge and the Vikes game in 2007.
- ST and the Eagles game in 2005.
- Bucs playoff game in 2005.
- Blocked kick Dallas game in 2006.
- Portis' opening run.
- Beating Dallas and Philly back-to-back on the road in 2008.
- Cerrato's resignation.

Worst:
- Gibbs' retirement.
- ST's death.
- The Buffalo game.
- Los dropping the sure pick-6 in the 1st Seattle playoff game.
- Suisham missing the field goal in the 2nd Seattle playoff game.
- 2001 debacle with Dallas when Davis fumbled. One of the ugliest games ever.
- 45-12 drubbing to Giants in 2009.
- Loss to Lions in 2009.
- The Dallas game in 2003 when Spurrier and Roy Williams almost killed Ramsey.

Note - I didn't include the Bucs playoff loss cuz it was part of the 90s but that was pretty bad. Still haven't forgiven the Turk brothers or Norv. One more first down and we make that field goal and go to the NFC championship, but Norv played it like a wimp.

Re: Top Redskins Moments of the Decade

That Bucs playoff game was in 1999-2000 season. Sorry. I did love beating them back in 05.

Another horrible moment: Suisham missing the 36 yarder to put us even more ahead against Seattle in the playoffs couldn't believe it..

Nice thread. I was thinking of starting one called 5 most memorable games

Best moment had to be, for me, Gibbs' return. Worst-losing Sean Taylor

On the field. I have to think about it

I agree. Talk about a very high high and a very low low. Two of the most significant events in Redskins history to me. On the field, it's hard to say, I'm torn between the Monday night miracle and the home game where Cooley scored like, 3 TD's against the Cowgirls to show it was no fluke, we kicked their ass! The worse? It's still to close to last Monday nights game to make a rational decision. Probably losing to Seattle after knocking Alexander out of the game. I thought we had that one for sure.

Re: Top Redskins Moments of the Decade

best has to be the moss monday night miracle, everyone had passed out i was the only one awake to see first pass and i started screamin and woke everybody up that game was awesome

worst has to be the loss to the bills after st21 died, that game sucked from every aspect

Favorite Moment: Either Monday Night Miracle or the 2006 home win vs the Boys

Least Favorite: Losing Sean Taylor.. if it has to be on the field I agree with the Bills game after his passing

Best: The monday night miracle

Worst:The Bills game after Sean Taylor's death. Between the ST tribute video and the way we lost made that day a terrible memory.

Re: Top Redskins Moments of the Decade

Monday Night Miracle. Nothing else comes remotely close, not even the playoff win later that season. It's still one of the best moments of the decade (the win over the Bucs), but I've never been so happy to be a Redskin fan over the past decade as I had been on that Monday Night. Some other moments, in no particular order.

- Clinton Portis first run as a Redskin

- The second game against the Cowboys in 2005.

- The return of Joe Gibbs.

- The 6-2 start in 2008

- The trade down with the Falcons in the 2008 draft (the picks made afterwards qualified for one of the worst moments of the decade).

- The resignation of Vinny Cerrato and hiring of Bruce Allen (I'd say give him a noble peace prize, God knows he meets all the criteria plus the murder rate in DC is expected to drop over the course of the next year.)

- The 2005 and 2007 playoff runs

- Blocking the last minute field goal from Dallas in 2006.

-10 men on the field.

- Gibbs challenging 12 men on the field against the Vikings in 2007.

Worst Momement - Loosing to the Cowboys on Thanksgiving when Danny Wurfel was the QB. I've never felt so hopeless and embarrassed as a Redskin fan. Come to think of it the loss to Detroit this year was pretty close. Off the field though the answer is easily the death of Sean Taylor.

Ha-ha. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Man it is so hard to explain that feeling when it was announced Gibbs was coming back. It was like, finally, all this pain of being embarrassed and losing to the Cowgirls every year is over. It was relief and exhilaration wrapped up in one.
