Pete Prisco Admits He Was Wrong About Griffin

The below message was posted on cbs.sportsline.com/nfl in Pete Prisco's mailbag.

From: Mathieu Mercader

Hi Pete. Remember what you said about Cornelius Griffin? The most overrated move of the FA market or something like that? Well, so far Griffin is one of the big reasons the Redskins have a top-three run defense. He has 30 tackles and two sacks. Griffin deserved all the bucks he got so far.

Mathieu: Griffin has played well. I did like him as a player. It's just that I thought the Redskins overpaid for him. He's playing up to that contract now, though. I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again -- just not too often.

At this point I don't think Brunell is even playing up to MY contract! He's terrible.

At least he's not turning the ball over. Wait, scratch that...

Yeah he has accounted for a lot of touchdowns while he is in the pocket... if you count the TD's that go both ways.

I think the entire D-Line is clicking right now. Williams has these guys playing so far above what they did last year. Everyone flys to the ball. Solid tackling. Confidence! I think C.G. will go to the pro bowl along with 3-4 others....

I've really been surprised by Griffin's play thus far. Maybe its the system, or maybe he's just playing really well, I don't know. I must admit though, that before the season started, I thought he was gonna be a washed up bust.

The only way brunell will earn his paycheck is if we give him a mop and let him clean the bathrooms at fedex field. he can also hold the clip board for ramsey

30 tackles and 2 sacks, I guess we won't have to cut Griffin anytime soon, he's putting up some nice stats

Griffin was extremely unrated. I thought he was a huge pickup for our d-line and he was.

There was never a question of Griffin's ability, the knock on him was he didn't always give 110%. Well, either that was just a myth or Williams has pushed all his right buttons.

in the pro bowl voting, he has 30 tackles, next highest is 21... and 2 sacks to boot... not bad.
