Holy Crap! That is 16.5 yards per carry cumultively - that is Hall Of Fame material.

I too am excited at the prospect of Portis, but does anybody have a number as far as average carries per game on this guy? I suspect Gibbs will be banging him 20-25 carries a game, is he durable?

Actually though it does bring me to another question, any of you guys have any good sites to research player stats and things of that nature?

The second site is one of the most comprehensive collections of NFL historical stats I've found on any free site. It has season-by-season stats for every NFL team, and even has stats for now-defunct historical teams. They've even been adding box scores of NFL games to the site, and have compiled them all the way back to the '94 season. Hopefully, they'll continue to add to it. It's damn good for a free site.

I am happy with Rock and Betts backing up right now....you can't have a pro bowler backing up each position. If Portis needs a game off, I would have no problem handing the rock to The Rock

what if portis got injured in the first quarter of a game the skins needed to win to get in the playoffs?i would feel a whole lot better if antwoian smith or even terry allen were signed as a backup.i know they can play in the clutch.

I think Rock Cartwright could take over in the clutch too. Especially since the line will be much improved this year due to coaching.

i'll put it this way,i would feel better giving it to rock or morton than i would to betts or canidate.i wish we had a more vet type of back though as a back up.

Betts is alright. He hasn't had much of a chance to show what he can do. He's been hurt most of the time, which doesn't reflect on his abilities.
