Re: NFL predictions

You got 256 wins to work with.

I see the NFC East shaping out very close to how SS has it. Still cant figure out why so many people are as high up on the Eagles as they are. No way they win the division, and only way they will finish second is if the Cowboys and Redskins finish below 500.

Damn The Sporting News has us going 4-12. THey did give a good analysis of the team, but 4-12 when their end synapsis said we were around a .500 team was weird.

Re: NFL predictions

Should be noted that the 11 wins comes with a big 'ol *, because I have the Redskins beating the Giants twice, which is the entire difference in the division for tiebreaker purposes.

Oops, did I say that? I didn't mean to offend, Giantone.

I think the 5 losses, as they came out:

  • Week 4 vs TB
  • Week 5 at CAR
  • Week 12 at PHI
  • Week 13 vs NO
  • Week 16 vs DAL
Not that I should be held to that.

Whoever didn't put us at #1 (on principle) should be ashamed of themselves.

I like your line of predicting the losses, but when the hell in recent memory have we ever swept the Gmen? I mean in recent years we should have swept them many times on paper only to piss victory away. I see us sweeping Dallas before we sweep NY.

Well, if you will grant for a second that the teams are equal, the Redskins would have a 25% chance of sweeping the Giants. That doesn't sound like very much, but when you are picking game by game, the probability of getting any random 2 games right is actually probably a little lower than 25%. This is because of an information gap.

Now if you think the Giants are better than the Redskins, by a significant amount, well, then yeah, it's a pretty silly prediction. But it's not hard to see why the Redskins would have both a Week 1 advantage (relative health), and a Week 15 advantage (home field).

no offense to you but you really think the Redskins will have the chops to win 4 out of 6 NFC East games but will lose to Tampa Bay and Carolina? I am much more comfortable saying that the Skins beat TB and Carolina and maybe go 3 for 6 against the NFC Beast.

I understand your argument and it makes sense. On the other hand, however, we have a history of raising our game for NFC Beast foes and then playing down to the Tampas of the world.
