Andre Smith..Would You Take Him At 13?

Andre Smiths stock has been falling lately because he fled the combine, and wasn't in shape, now every analyst is dropping him, some even have him going as early as 15. Seeing that we desperately need oline help and this guy is a hell of a football player that can start immediatley for us at RT or Guard...I say take him if he's still at 13 what do you all think?

My gut answer is no, because I like to hit at a near 100% rate with my first round picks, and there are some red flags here, but it doesn't take much thought to realize that he's likely going to be the best prospect available when we pick if he is there.

So my answer is "not if Oher, Curry, or Raji is there".

I have to agree with GT here. First round have to be a sure thing and this guy is not stepping up when he should be.

He stated:
"If I had the chance to do it all over, I wouldn't have handled it the way I did. I should have told my group leader that I was leaving, and I didn't. Smith also admitted that he wasn't prepared or in shape

I guess I would take a chance on him. Only because he has been so dominate up untill the combine there has'nt been any issues. But I would like to know why he was not prepared and out of shape. Definate Red Flag.

He's still got the makings of a very good prospect, who has shown the ability to control his weight. I don't think he's an ideal LT prospect.

I think Buges would start a fire under his ass and he would become a very dominant player for us.

If the prospect of a 20 million dollar signing bonus cant get this guys act together till atleast the combine, I don't think Buges will be able to do anything with him after he has the money.

Excellent point. This guy is falling for a reason, major red flags when you don't show up ready for the largest interview of your life. Pass.

i think you have to if you want a tackle, considering all of the other offensive tackles will have moved up if he moves back this far. and WE NEED A TACKLE unless we pick up a starter in FA which i doubt

Being that this is real life, if he is already showing signs of problems during the most sensitive period for an NFL rookie then it's most likely underlying signs of deeper issues.

It'd be like going on a first date to a nice restaurant and having your date piss themselves at the table and still thinking that they were marriage material. Andre pissed his first opportunity away and we should not take a chance on him.
