Anyone watch Ron Dayne?
He looked pretty good in pre-season. Kinda curious if Coughlin will let him see some daylight in a game.

I saw him at camp and he looked really slimmed down, but he didn't look much quicker. I guess they're trying to work him into the mix this year, short yardage and goal line stuff to give Tiki a break.

he looked great, but against crap players... he'll probably make the team and get more than last year's 0 yds though

As you probably know, I think Ron Dayne stinks. Nonetheless, he had a very good game in the Giants' exhibition opener. Granted, he was not going against a defense full of All-Pros, but he ran well and he ran strong.
If he plays like that a couple more times, he may actually be allowed to suit up this year. Fassell had him in street clothes all last year. IN the NHL, they call that a "healthy scratch". I don't think he has learned to block yet which will get Coughlin into an apoplectic fit once people get past that sieve of an OL that he has up there. So I'd be surprised if Dayne sees a whole lot of PT this year. But they'll keep him because his cap number is really low. |

I'm not a big fan of Dayne either but to be fair to him Fassell buried him deep in his doghouse and his offense was suited more to Tiki's style of running anyway.
Who knows, maybe in a between the tackles kind of running game Dayne can start to resurect his career. Stranger things have happened. |

They say he's running at about 235 pounds now. Let's see, that's down from...what, 260 or so?
Who knows, maybe that's just what he needs. Funny how a player in college, and in a tough conference like the Big Ten can suck as hard as Dayne has so far. |

Dayne didnt really get enough carries in his career to validate his being called a crappy player in my mind. He is still young, and will be playing with some fire after being benched for a whole season i think.

thats true, we will have to see how he handles it. by the looks of his first performance this year, he is using it to fuel his abilities.
