Did Spurrier Ruin Ramsey?
Everyone has noted that neither QB has looked good in practice or the games to this point, but particularly alarming to me is the number of fumbled snaps by Ramsey.. Is he still suffering from shell shock as a result of the beating he got last year and is so anxious to pull back from center that he is leaving too early? Maybe Joe Crisp or others can weigh in since he saw most of the 1st week of camp.

Well if he did I would think Gibbs and Co and save him.

Hrm, he made great throws last year. Now they're changing the mechanics he learned under spurrier and he's floundering. Who ruined who?

It's way too early to judge any of the QB's performances thus far. They've all had their problems, so it's a little unfair to Ramsey to just point the finger at him.

I think Ramsey will be OK. He is pressing right now. He knows he has a vet going for his job and Gibbs like for the vet! Sometimes young guys need to fall and learn to trust the coach and system. Joe T had the same problem if you remember! The O line is the key. They need a can of whip ass!!! Run over people...blow them off the line and all of the other thing will fall in place!

Well I think RedskinPete pretty much said it. It's about trust. Ramsey has to trust that this new system is in fact designed to protect him and he doesn't have to feel rushed to make a play.

Smoot I watched the game on the NFL network today. It did look like Ramsey was rushing his passes and looking down the receivers. For the most part the protection was there. He needs to go to his check off when he has no play...RB or TE. The fact of the matter maybe it just may take time with him. Joe T was not that hot with GIbbs the first year!

Just saw the replay of the game, Ramsey's fumble was a result of the center snapping the ball when he was still calling out signal's, half the line didn't move on time, he was also taking some pretty good hit's back there, he didn't have a whole lot of time, basically enough to drop set and throw, he didn't have all day to throw, as for Brunnell, he is working against a second string D, with first string talent in a lot of area's, Mcant's case and point, who I believe will beat out Gardner for the #2 spot, Ramsey is relearning a whole new offense, and for a non seasoned player like ramsey, it will take time, I guess Hasselback is no longer contending for the #2 backup job, what a difference 5 day's make, Ramsey will finish the pre-season strong, DT Ron Warner's play stood out, and Gary Scott look's like he has a real shot of making the team.

I know Ramsey got killed because of Spurrier, but I think Gibbs can help him back and it may take some time. This is why we got Brunnell, which I know is not popular with many here. Even I questioned it.

He's a 3rd year guy learning a whole new system with an entirely different philosophy. He's had to relearn how to read a defense, it's going to take time for his game to come together.
Brunell should come around much quicker than Ramsey. Once he get settled into the offense he'll be fine. |

one of the snaps as has been said, was early, that was lennie freidman's fault (i think that was the center at the time)... I saw it, and the center started moving foward without really releasing the ball, it was really bad...

I think this is like another rookie year for Ramsey. he has never really had to learn or run a pro system like the one gibbs runs. For all intents and purposes ramsey has run a college system for the last seven years.

Agreed. Give the kid time. He was rushed in by Spurrier, but he'll be fine. If anyone can get him right, it's Gibbs and co.
Again, it's only August 16.

I wish Ramsey would stop trying to copy Peyton Manning and feel the need to audible every time he lines up to take the snap. It usually does more damage than good
