The Official Thank You G-Will and Al Saunders thread

This may seem stupid to some, but I was very disappointed to see Saunders and Williams leave when I got home today and heard the news, and I know I'm late on this but w/e. I'd just like to say thank you to Saunders and Williams for everything they've done for the Redskins, Williams especially because he made this defense what it is today and he's made some very great draft picks that will be solid building blocks for the future. I've been hearing a lot of things about Williams lately, that he's been a part of the problem as much as Snyder was, but I wish him luck elsewhere along with Saunders. Mods I checked to see if there was a thread along these lines, but I didn't see any but just in case I'm wrong please merge.

I'll always root for GW. He was a huge part of me enjoying that first season with Gibbs back.

Good luck to them both (and Bill Lazor) wherever they end up

I don't think that it's stupid at all. I wanted to see both stay. In any case, I hope that they both land well. Gregg's defenses were the heart of Gibbs 2.0 and Saunders has gotten a bum rap IMO. His offense works if given the chance. I see him landing in St. Louis and resurrecting their offense. Thanks Gregg and Al - I'm sad to see you go.

Wishing Greg and Al only the very best! A very special goodbye to GW I think he was ready for this HC job and got a raw deal. He will be hired quickly. Great days are ahead for GW. Our loss is another teams gain. Hope we don't play his next team anytime soon.

It's a nice thought. I never really warmed up to Saunders even though I tried, but GW embodies everything I like in football. I'm sure he's going to be successful somewhere else and I'm happy about that.

Seriously, though, I think I'll be a Williams fan for a long time, unless he goes to dallas and stomps us or something.

Al never really got it going here, but GW has put his heart into things, and I will miss him. An intense dude, no doubt. Good luck to him--he'll be a head coach yet, IMO.

That's because he wasn't granted the appropriate amount of time. Why do so many of our fans think success happens overnight?

Our offense was rolling over the last 5 games of the season when our receivers finally got healthy and were able to practice during the week, and also with a QB that had studied it for years.

Interestingly, our offense was ranked 13th in 2006 and 7th in 2007. I'm convinced we would have been a top 5 offense next year had we kept him.

Ce la vie. Thanks Al and Gregg for the outstanding job you guys did.

I thought your number on our O ranking looked wrong and i was surprised to learn that our O was ranked worse this yer than last.
2006: 13th
2007: 15th
We went backwards.

So I wonder who gets the job of moving AS 700 page play book.

It wasnt time it was Gibbs that kept the reins in on the O. IMO, Gibbs never really let AS do his thing. When Collins came in I think that was as close as Gibbs ever got to turning AS loose.

To be honest the whole Gibbs and AS thing just did not work. Our O went from 13th in 2006 to 15th in 2007 while AS was here.

It didnt work because Gibbs wouldnt let it work. He never trusted AS to run the O the way it should have been run.
