team hard to take

is there anyone out there , that thought going into the latter stages of the 4 th quarter of that game who thought the skins would win even though they were in front ... i didnt i honestly whew they would lose by the one point after the fieldgoal that the bills would eventually kick, this team is really hard to watch , its the same crap week after week , no learning curve with this bunch , hang on to tiny leads and blow it at the end of games , i never really post , but always read the forums , someone most of the time says it for me, but this was just maddening , this team has no friggin heart , some game to honor your lost teamate , same crap different week , joe gibbs i thing after seeing this latest of many flubs , is not an answer , i mean three straight running plays, after you couldnt run all day at a time when they absolutly knew you were going to run, an they stacked the line is just plain dumb, all i do is shake my head , coach in the wings williams is not going to do it and he is the next coach , its in the books , salary cap hell ... these days its not so fun being a skins fan

Yea this team is just not any good under pressure, when we get leads we always let it slip, thats bad coaching, i love gibbs but he needs out! WHO replaces him though? BILL COWER?

Re: team hard to take

Looking at things objectively, the Skins should have lost to the Jets, and very well could have lost to Miami in the opener. The 5-3 start was a mirage. The team continually makes mistakes to give games away.

Let's objectively look at the bigger picture of Gibbs 2.0. Throw out a 5 week stretch to close out 2005, and this team is consistently below average. I like their effort on most counts but this team is not the "supersmart" team that Gibbs likes to aspire to. And that starts from the coaching staff down.

Re: team hard to take

Part of this post is my own thoughts and part not my own (to be explained).

For myself, since Taylor's death I've given little thought to football or the Skins. Tuesday was one of the worst days in my memory, ever. I did not watch the game today for two reasons: too much emotion overall, and because I knew the let down would be enormous, which leads me to the part of the post not really me talking.

Last week I met a guy who's been a Skins fan longer than I've been alive. He's followed every era of the team and knows every detail. He told me he can't stand to watch any longer because the disappointment is so huge. He said part of the disappointment is w/ Gibbs but it goes beyond any one man.

I don't know whether I'll watch another game this year. There is something so wrong it actually seems too big to really grasp. I love a lot of the individual players and the team legacy, but it's just too much.

Re: team hard to take

this sucks. I don't think i'll ever see a good skins team. Its not fair. This is the worst i've ever felt being a skins fan, and that is saying something. Obviously this week has been horrible. Lets just hope that we turn something around and play better in the coming weeks.

I hate to break it to the original post, but this hasn't been their normal week of preparation. I think our season is probably over. Losing Sean Taylor is like losing a Tom Brady. During the field goal, all I could picture is Taylor coming across and blocking the kick and running it to the house. We played the best we could.

In hindsight, our season virtually ended when Taylor went down against Philly. Since that moment, opposing teams have made huge plays downfield against the middle of our defense, where Taylor was playing shutdown football previously.

.... i dont post often, and dont want to honk any horns but losing taylor like losing brady , i dont think so , i loved taylor but dont think for a minute he makes much difference, this team has played the same most of the year with or without taylor , another team might have rose up and friggin buried the bills today, under the same circumstances, not this team ...and greg williams is the next coach ...i think it was how gibbs got him here with the promise of succsesion

I don't think losing Taylor is like losing Brady, but I do not think you really mean that it makes no difference whether Reed Doughty or Sean Taylor is playing free safety. The man led the league in picks prior to the Eagles game. Teams NEVER got anything deep on us until ST went out and then, lo and behold, teams start torching us on deep throws and screens.

There had to be a better term than "buried the bills" you could have used under the circumstances

Re: team hard to take

I wait every week for the mental screw up and it finally came in a 2nd time-out by Joe Gibbs in the end. Even I, a non $5 million a year coach knew we could not call a 2nd timeout after calling the first one!!!! How do we continue to mentally screw up week after week. You are 67 years old and afre past your time Joe Gibbs, please step away!!!!

Re: team hard to take

Why didnt the skins keep it open in the 4th quarter? I hate when we have a lead and try to run the clock out from 8 minutes on in the 4th, when we should be spreading the field picking up 1st downs like we do all first half of most games. Portis was averaging 2 ypc and they kept feeding him the balll in the 4th, I would have like to see ladell betts get a few reps, and throw some play action. We lose bc our offense is never on the field in the 2nd half and we let oppenents get into a rhtythm offensively.
