Good Skins bar on the Hill
I'll actually be in the District on Sunday in the Capitol hill area around Eastern Market. Where's the best Redskins bar?

Re: Good Skins bar on the Hill
Hmm..might be out of luck. There's a bar directly accross the street from the Eastern Market, forget the name, but I'm sure the game will be on in there.
Try Hawk 'n Dove. Nice little hole in the wall. Sure to be some cuties in there too. But if you want a full blown sports bar vibe, hop on the Blue Line to Pentagon City and drop into Chammps or Crystal City Sports Bar (Crystal City stop). Redskins all day long! |

Re: Good Skins bar on the Hill
Bottom line. It's on I street between 18th and 19th st. N.W. It's actually our happy hour spot after work. So when I walked in there on a Sunday, I thought I went back in time or something. I've never seen anything like it in my life. It's a straight up cult. It's maybe a hundred or more people sitting around crying over every little call and dropped pass. When I walked in, everyone stared me down like who's this guy? I just wanted a beer, you know. It got super quiet. It was during the game when they came back to beat the Jets. Luckliy for me, I was wearing an orange sweater! Every single one of them are wearing Bengals jerseys and they all know each other. The girls have that dark eye glare or whatever it is around their eyes. All the bartenders are dressed like Bengals fans. Oh! There's this one guy walking around with a mock headset (Motorola), a black bengals baseball cap, and he looks just like, just like Marvin Lewis! The whole time they're cheering or crying, he's pacing slowly throughout the bar pretending he's on the sideline. Never says a word. If you saw this guy, you would think he was Marvin Lewis. |

Re: Good Skins bar on the Hill
This is incredible. With the popularity of the skins how come there are good bars for other teams and not the hometown boys? Too many transients?

Re: Good Skins bar on the Hill
Oh yeah, so one of the regular bar tenders slides me a beer and I'm like damn the Bengals are getting smacked down!
You ever see one of those Southwest commercials where the person realized they've done some dumb shit, but it was too late? Yeah, that was your boy here. So then, in my effort to keep from getting my ass kicked, I said..uhhh...man, I'm really sorry to hear about LeMar Marshall. (true story) He's a really good guy, blah..blah..blah. Then the one guy opened up and we started trading stories about who's team is injured the most. After that, I sucked down the Yuengleng and got my skinny ass the hell out of there!! |

Re: Good Skins bar on the Hill
The Marvin Lewis guy is creepy. Because I kept staring at him, like damn this guy really looks like Marvin Lewis. But you don't want to stare you know. So he's walking around and shit, and someone asked him something (like I said I think they all know each other) so Lewis removes one ear of the headset, you know like he's talking to a ref or something. Crazy! Oh yeah, I think, I'm not sure, but I think they had like a little mock replay booth.

12lth, this is the kind of thing I miss about America. Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning. Excellent witty reporting and writing and I hope to witness this myself someday.
