Plus signed a kicker: Tyler Fredrickson, 6-3 and 220 pounds, is expected to compete with Shaun Suisham for the Redskins' place kicking job this offseason.

Hmmm, Redskins.com doesn't say anything about OG Tucker Peterson or WR Jesse Wendt that SmootSmack's thread said we also signed. I hope we actually did grab that Peterson kid. He sounds solid. Anyone know what's up with these two?

Nice! I like that he was wearing a Redskins jersey at age 3. He sounds like someone who could make the 53 man roster and bolster guard depth. I like it. Thanks for the link SS.

This article seems to say that Peterson hasn't exactly signed yet

http://www.unionleader.com/article.a...5-ebf41f8013dc

Offensive guard Tucker Peterson of Clarendon, Vt. makes it three-for-three for last yea's captains as far as getting a shot at the NFL.

The Washington Redskins called yesterday morning and invited Peterson to take part in mini-camp this weekend.

They had not offered him a contract as of last night.

"They'll put me through some drills and see if they want to sign me a contract," Peterson said. "Right now I'm an unsigned free agent."

The Bears have also expressed an interest in Peterson and if they were to offer a contract, he could go there instead. And if neither of those options work out, the New York Jets have invited him to their camp, which starts next Tuesday.

Peterson intends to drill out at both guard and center in mini-camp. It was tough watching the draft and not being picked and then waiting to hear from teams Sunday night, Peterson said.

"You have your goal right in front of you and can't quite get it and then you wait and wait and you're positive you'll get a call and it doesn't come," he said. "It was frustrating until this morning. Now I'll try to make the most of it."

Well, at least he'll be working out for us first. Hopefully he'll come prepared, have a solid a few solid workouts, and we'll get him signed before he even has a chance to leave Redskins park. Maybe he and Buges will hit it off. One can hope, right?

Re: Redskins bring in Nine Undrafted Rookies.

Deyon Williams is a pretty good pickup IMO. Seen him play two years, and when he isnt injured he was one of our top receiving threats. Problem is no one at Virginia could get the ball to him.

He had a couple dominating games, like two seasons ago in the upset of then #4 Florida St. He is pretty tall and athletic, but underachieves at times.

Re: Redskins bring in Nine Undrafted Rookies.

I have watched these two terps players for their entire time at college park:

Hollenbach has the physical pedigree to be an NFL QB but for some reason it never quite clicked for him in college. He has shown some great strides of improvement over the last two years though and his 28-26 TD-Int ratio is a little bit misleading b/c he racked a bunch of those interceptions in his sophomore year and the beginning of his junior year. Last year he learned to read routes very well but he also had all day to throw the ball. He isn't immobile but he is definitely not a dual threat QB. Basically he won't win the game for you but he also won't lose it. I think he could outplay this guy from UTEP that we drafted and earn a role as a solid backup if he is coached properly.

Re: Redskins bring in Nine Undrafted Rookies.

Stephon Heyer has also had a disappointing end of his career considering the hype around him when he came into college. He definitely has the size to succeed in the NFL but the bad news for the skins is that he excels in pass blocking rather than run blocking. I've had the opportunity to meet him on many occasions and he is a really laid-back person. Unfortunately, this is why he isn't the hardest worker and he also doesn't have that type of mean streak that Linemen need to dominate the guy across from them. Obviously he has injury issues too which explains why he wasn't picked up by anyone else.

Re: Redskins bring in Nine Undrafted Rookies.

These guys are a bunch of nobodies....but hey, someone needs to carry the Vets bags!

I am very curious...how many undrafted free agents have made an impact on their respective teams in the past decade?

I said last decade. There are many documented undrafted free agents throughout history, but how many in the salary cap era? (ie: last decade)

Hickman was all pac 10 and had 12.5 sacks and was a beast all season, rather small for nfl but could be a great situational pass rusher like clemons was for us, excellent pick up and i have a strong feeling he is going to make the team
