Something I never want to hear again:

Anything dealing with the Redskins not getting any respect or the media bias. I remember this offseason many people here talking about the media bias, and how dare they not pick us for the division, I mean... look at our team.

I hear every year how great the Redskins are going to be, and I fail to see it every year. Face it folks, the media isn't bias. We suck, we have a tradition of sucking, and until we PROVE something we don't deserve an ounce of respect anywhere.

Even when we were playing horrible football in preseason everyone said it didn't matter, and the team was just kidding. Many people blindly said "The score doesn't matter." Which is 100% true. Wins/Losses don't matter in preseason, you judge your team based on performance, and namely that of the starters.

Just something that bothers me every offseason that I figured I'd vent. When the Redskins EARN some respect, then they'll get their due. Until then, we're on the same level as the Browns, Raiders, and Cardinals.

That's fine but I don't recall getting much respect when we won 6 in a row last year. I agree that for the most part that criticisms of the Redskins are justified due to losing, but I refuse to believe that some in the media aren't a bit biased due to their dislike for Dan Snyder.

Why do you think that is? I believe Dan Snyder brought much of that on himself. Many people see him as the Paris Hilton of the NFL - lots to spend, with little substance or results.

It goes back to what Daseal said, when Snyder's teams start winning, the respect will come. Until then, they have ZERO reason to respect anything he does or the Redskins do.

I'm not debating whether or not people in the media should or shouldn't dislike him. They are certainly entitled to their opinion and of course Snyder has brought a lot of heat on himself.

I just think it's foolish to think there isn't a bias out there.

I also highly doubt that even if the Skins were to win it all that the media would all of a sudden do a 180 and praise Snyder. If anything it would be very reluctant praise, and they would probably look to credit everyone but him for the success.

Its obvious now that the 6 game streak was an anomily and not a precursor of things to come.

I'm not talking in hindsight, I'm talking about during that winning streak we didn't receive much respect.

Even worse, losing streaks are the norm for Gibbs 2.0:

2004 - 4 game losing streak, 3 game losing streak

2005 - 2 game losing streak, 3 game losing streak

2006 - 3 game losing strea, and FOUR 2 game losing streaks

Thats 9 losing streaks in 3 seasons. During that same period, the Skins have had only 3 winning streaks - 3 games to start the season and the 6 game run at the end of 2005, and the only consecutive games won this year (@Houston, Jacksonville).

Let me repeat: 9 losing streaks vs. 3 winning streaks. That's enough said on what the norm is around here.

Brutal but true. The numbers don't lie, and the fact is that after 3 years Gibbs II is a losing proposition.

Damn. Who would have believed that three years ago, the day Joe Gibbs came back, we'd be talking about Gibbs' 2nd losing season in three years, and counting the numbers of losing streaks he has.

This truly is a nightmare. I never, NEVER could have imagined such a scenario.

Yeah, compare the respect that we got last year versus the praise media pundits are pilling on Phili for doing the exact same thing.

Good post. We deserve to be shat upon. Anyone who said we'd stink deserves some kudos for being right, just as Lenny P deserved to eat crow in 2005 when we went 10-6.

Re: Something I never want to hear again:

I agree & I know others on here do too, as I recall several people posting that we'll get respect once we earn it.
I wouldn't totally discount the notion of media bias though. The media are people too, and when they get snubbed or blacklisted by the Danny it has to affect their judgement of the team. JKC could be a real SOB but he dealt w/the public a lot more & a lot better.
My only significant complaint is that Gibbs didn't get his props last year for our playoff run, whereas the tuna gets all the media accolades but hasn't won a playoff game yet w/the cowpokes. He also had a 6-10 season.
As for Gibbs' 05 offseason & the tuna's draft picks I'll give the tuna credit there.
