What Is Wrong With The Offense?

I simply cannot understand how our offense looks so potent one week and so awful the next. It's not the quality of the opponents because we torched a great Jacksonville defense. It's not the location of the game, as the offense has looked good at home and away. I do not believe that Brunell is the main reason why our offense has looked inconsistent. True, Brunell has looked inconsistent, but so has the offensive line.

Thoughts?

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

It was a dud of a day across the board, just like last year in the Meadowlands but the score wasn't quite as bad.

Every team has a day like this now and then, personally I'm not going to sit here wringing my hands all week wondering if the season is over.

We'll rebound.

I am concerned about the 'D' however, at least the offense has given us some flashes of brilliance, the 'D' has been consistently piss poor especially against the pass.

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

Our offense and offensive play caller are still adjusting to each other. Don't forget that the Giants really had to win this game and had 2 weeks to prepare for us.

I think our best offense will come down the stretch, but the defense has to stop a few of the balls that just get thrown up as the QB is getting hit. How do they always seem to fall in the hands of open receivers? A turnover would be helpful now and then.

Agree that the offense is going to have these sort of days. Their performance was compounded by the D's issues today.

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

This game, I'll blame it squarely on time of possession. In the second half, their O was on the field twice as long. I guess that's a circular answer, though, since if our O was clicking, we would have had the ball longer. Nonetheless, it seemed like that first 8 minute drive of the second half just destroyed us.

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

I just read that we had 40 offensive snaps!!!! The defense couldn't get the offense on the field and when the offense did get on the field due to the Giants scoring it couldn't stay on the field.

It really went hand in hand today. We couldn't stop them and we couldn't sustain anything.

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

I cant wait to play them here. we dont play well in the meadowlands for some reason. they were in a must win situation and had two weeks to prepare for us. the season is not over yet but i tell you what 0-2 in divison play is no good and dont sleep on vince young. scrambling qbs give our d problems.

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

The defense couldn't get them on the field and the O line couldn't give Brunell enough time to make throws. If he sees anyone within about 5 yards of him he's throwing off his back foot or running out of the pocket to throw it away. That and it seems like he only ever makes 2 reads.

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

on offense we were predictable and the sweeps don't work as well against non-backup DEs. brunell saw pressure and sorta did a bit of the chicken little dance again. he wasn't skipping balls, but 109 yards isn't something to write home about.

but the defense. damn. bad to worse to worser :P couldn't cover, couln't blitz, couldn't get off the field. Vinny's gotta go. there's no excuse for the depth being that bad. no pressure, no run stopping, no coverage. can't excuse that.

if we can't stop eli, how can we stop peyton without springs? (hope we get lucky) 3-4 and a much needed bye coming up.

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

I believe part of it is we have no ability to stretch the field. We haven't connected on a long pass all year. We've had some go for a long ways because of great WR moves, but nothing where they have to back out of the box and be weary of it.

Save you're type a few of us have been saying this for 2 years... but people are very satisfied with dinks and dunks... i know opposing defenses are...makes preparation alot easier...
