Any Positives From Tonight's Game?

Thank god it's still pre-season. However except for the two big plays, one on KO return, and the one on the reverse I think the first unit still demonstrated they can confuse an offense. That 23 play 12+ min. 3rd qtr. form the reserve was a bit demoralizing. We still have some work to do in all three phases.

Discuss.....

Good can come from bad , know that.
With all these mental mistakes I guess a positive would be that competition will have to conitue on as backup roles are still in the air for a lot of areas. Prettty weak but what else can we say.
Minimal injuries. More experience for the young guys who saw alot of time tonite. And Ramsey only had like 33yds.

ARE looked good. Sellars carried the ball a few times. One nice drive by Campbell. Sack by Arch. Rock wasn't bad.

THe D had me worried all night. First the big plays against the starters, then the endless billion play drive against the backups.

I'm just hoping we can find some bright spots since we discussed mostly negatives in the game thread. I thouight we did do some good things just not enough of them when it counted.

Check out Gibbs press conference--already up on skins.com. Man, is he pissed off. Can't say I remember seeing him like that. SHortest press conference ever.

This is the easy answer. I didn't hear Gibbs say that. The team looked like dogs8it and they have two weeks to fix it. If they don't play better than that, they will lose to Minnesota. If they lose to Minnesota, they are in big trouble.

Re: Any Positives From Tonight's Game?

We have yet to see our starters out there for a prolonged period of time where they can take control of a game, Gibbs is notorious for holding back the offense in the pre-season, I really am not worried at all with our starters, AA looks like he's perfect for what Williams want's out of him at saftey, he gets to the QB awfully fast and he has very good closing speed, the funny thing about that is Reed Dougherty looks and runs an awful lot like AA I think he has a good chance to stick.

On the negative side our backups may be the worst in the NFL at least when it comes to line play.

Collins is bad, the Jet's weren't really playing any defense and he still couldn't do much, I will disregard that TD to Ortega the Jets were laying back and the defender fell down anyone on this site could have made that throw. But I do like Ortega though, he's a little light right now but he has very good speed and quickness for a TE, if he can block at all I think he makes it.

Espy looks very good and will only continue to get better, nice free agent signing, Jacobs who?

Now to maybe the disheartning aspect of the team, specials, our specials are simply disgusting, I truly believe it's time to send danny packing, we are not talking rocket science here, the guy has alway's struck me as a below average coach at best.

Re: Any Positives From Tonight's Game?

Positives plays (Defense):

-Wright's sack and a good diving trip-tackle on the next down.
-Washington's presence on most plays during the first two Jets possessions.
-Archuleta's sack: I thought he pretty quick getting to the QB.
-Carlos Rogers shows good recovery to the ball.
-Posey looks like a good pickup.
-Griffin walking off the field on his own.

Positive plays (Offense):

-Randle El enthusiastic peformance; 2 really good catches!
-Campbell's bounceback drive after throwing a pick.
-Rock Cartwright showing a little toughness.
-Brunell making a decent play with his feet and not turning the ball over.
-Betts looks good when tries to be aggressive.

Clearly more works needs to be done but there's still time to work on our "problems". We've all seen some dreamy pre-season's turn into nightmarish regular seasons.
