Who still goes to amusement parks????

Scheming to make money, I contemplated if there would be a profitable outcome if I were to buy some stock in 6 flags. Figuring Snyder has had his tremondous success in buying and merging with his business ventures. However, with Shapiro reporting to analysts that the problem of low attendance and previous debt is more serious and going to be a problem to pay for really bums me out. Did Danny-boy slip up?? Who even attends 6 flags?? I would but I'm an adult and I work. I still believe Dan has a foot in the door to bring in outside companies and get back on track though the whole company is (while banning smoking inside) creating a new image and environment that is uncertain of a market. Dan will gain many years down the road.

Re: Who still goes to amusement parks????

i used to live in ohio and it was right near cedar point, i consider it the best amusement park in the world. I would go 3 times a week and had passes. I was just planning on going to an amusement park within the next two weeks. Some of my friends said that 6 flags wasn't worth it and it we should head on out to kings dominion. I guess i have stopped going to parks as often but that is moreso due to location and the quality of the parks. I haven't been to an amusement park in over 4 years/.

intel short term (duo core) and titanium longer term (increased demand, at least for 3 years, until the new processing tech becomes available and drops its price immensely) are better bets.

I used to live 5 minutes from Six Flags New England, we had season passes and we went quite a bit.

Re: Who still goes to amusement parks????

I used to go to Kings Dominion a few times a summer, but haven't been in probably 5 years or so. My company rents out Six Flags once a year and the employees get free roam of the park. I usually go to that because everything is free and there are no lines. I went to Sea World Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa, and Discovery Cove last summer on my honeymoon, but I can't really say that I'm an amusement park kind of person.

My wife and I love going, but we've been so busy that we haven't gone. It's been over 5 years since Kings Dominion, and I haven't been to HersheyPark in probably 10 or more years.

They're fun, but they're geared towards younger people, or people with families. And unless you have some sort of coupon or discount, it can be pretty pricey to go.

Re: Who still goes to amusement parks????

i tried to get into it when i took my (younger) cousin to king's D in VA, but... waiting in line for 30-40 minutes for a 3 minute ride (times however many rides you wanted to go on) seemed pretty silly.

Re: Who still goes to amusement parks????

I love near Hershey, so I usually go there once a year. Other than that, I usually don't go to any other parks. I'm not a big rollercoaster person, but my wife IS...so I usually wait at the bottom and eat things I couldn't eat if I were going to ride...and laugh when people get sick while I'm safe on the ground.

Re: Who still goes to amusement parks????

i hadn't visited an amusement park in years before a month or so ago... what happened to the rides??? i swear, the architects are amping up the designs to create an evolution of thrills... i went on this ride at six flags here in socal and i couldn't believe how crazy the "X" ride was. it's like they threw out the traditional laws of roller coaster design and just made up their own rules:

X Ride

The park also just opened up "tatsu", where you're actually sprawled out with your stomach facing the ground. Imagine going down that first hill, face first!

I've seen that X Ride featured on TV shows about thrill rides... definitely looks insane! How crazy was it? Part of me would want to go on it, the other part of me says no way.

Matty... the 90 second ride is worth the trip out west (if you're into coasters). It's unlike anything I've ever been on before- the first time you're on it will be the best, because your not sure which direction your body will go. The seats rotate before, after, and during drops and turns (the best raven turns anywhere): which all adds up to an extra ride dimension. Honestly, I had that "first time ever on a coaster" feeling while I was on "X."
