PLAYOFFS, BABY, PLAYOFFS!!!! (NBA, that is)
And we owe it all to Calvin Booth!
I know we barely held onto the coveted 5th seed, but the Wizards have a decent chance to advance to the second round again. Caron Butler is obviously very important to the success of our team (see five game losing streak with him on the bench). It is nice to have him healthy again. Our 3-1 record against Cleveland this year is a little deceiving due to the fact that the only game in which Cleveland had all its stars and played them substantial minutes was the first one, which we lost. Still, we match up better against them than any other top four team in the East, so I will gladly put off studying for my law school exams to watch Gil and the clan in action. I hope the Skins follow the Wizards' lead and go back to the playoffs this year too. Washington sports are starting to come around. DC United won the MLS Cup in 2004 and crazy things started to happen with all the other teams. Who else is following the NBA playoffs? |

I'm definitely excited that the Zards are back in the playoffs. Let's hope they can get as far as last year, if not farther.
Any idea on when game 6 is?

they will lose in the second round just like the skins. The cavs are seriously going down. It feels just like last yera with the bulls. We can take them and we will take them.

anyone but miami and we have a shot. I doubt we can beat the pistons 4 times, but we could stretch a series with them to game 6.

Caron Butler has been playing GREAT since his return from the thumb injury. If they only had a full-time center, they could go all the way. Etan's getting better, I hope he gets major minutes next year. My ambitious picks: Pistons over Bucks in 3 Bullets over Cavs in 4 Nets over Pacers in 3 Bulls over Heat in 5 (yes, I said BULLS) -- Spurs over Kings in 5 Mavs over Grizzlies in 5 Clippers over Nuggets in 4 Suns over Lakers in 3 Finals : Suns over Nets |

They certainly are ambitious. Especially having several teams win a seven game series in three games... I love the Wizards too, but I don't think Etan is good enough to be our long-term solution. Our four "big men" just aren't good enough. I like them all, but until we move to get a solid center/ power forward I don't see us progressing much farther. BRING BACK MANUTE!!!! |

Re: PLAYOFFS, BABY, PLAYOFFS!!!! (NBA, that is)
We've got better offensive starting 5, but the cavs have a deeper bench with jones, marshall, and varejao (sp?). We've been pretty good containing Lebron this season, but I have a feeling he's going to step his game up in his first playoff series. I think the post play is a wash- Z has an advantage over Haywood/Etan, but 'Twan abuses Gooden offensively. Daniels will have to come up defensively, as I believe he'll be D'ing up hughes quite a bit. Butler is proving to be the steal of the century- locking him up long-term was a very smart move by EG.
This may be the most exciting (and balanced) matchup of the first round. |
