Re: What move would you have not made if you were GM?

I'd have to pick one of the receivers, from which I picked Randle El, since he's never been much of a #1 or #2 receiver, and I think Lloyd has more potential.

The Skins can always find a return man, and with Moss, Patten, and Lloyd, doesn't make sense to logjam the position.

I'm going with Archuleta. I would rather have resigned Clark (who played just fine). I have no problem with all this WR depth we have.

I just see the salary of Archuleta being a problem when we want to resign Taylor a few years down the road.

Re: What move would you have not made if you were GM?

This is tough, I picked Archuleta, because I liked Ryan Clark a lot and he isn't worth the money we gave him for a position I felt was very solid.

Randel El is a very close 2nd.

My vote is for Lloyd because they had to give up 2 picks to get him. The rest came over as FAs

Yeah, that's how I voted, and for the same reason. Overall, I'm pleased with the pickups. I thought that we needed not one, but two new receivers to fill the #2 and #3 spots. David Patten gives us great depth, and virtually assures that you won't see a big dropoff in wideout production should any of the top three go down. Losing the 3rd and 4th rounder though, that stung a little. Archuleta was a close second, but there again, we probably needed him with Sean Taylor's legal trouble.

AA!

Bad back, and demoted in a mediocre to poor Ram Secondary. Probably would not have gotten his starting job back with the Rams, either.

Re: What move would you have not made if you were GM?

Can we add a none of the above button? I actually agree with all the moves. Lloyd didn't cost too much and you know what you're getting (rather than, say, counting on the draft to grab a Taylor Jacobs). I thought Archuletta made sense given ST's legal uncertainties (although we probably overpaid). Randle El and Carter were FAs, and I don't care what we paid them because we always find a way to stay out of cap hell anyways. Both were good moves for areas of need.

ARCHULETA. He signed the biggest contract for a safety EVER. enough said. I live near St. Louis so I have heard all about him for years. I always liked him (I'm a big fan of the huge hits), but never thought he would bring this kind of money. I'm sure throughout the season we are gonna be singing his praises on a few knockout shots, but more importantly we will be pissed about a few blown coverages. Our run defense will get better, but he won't help our problem of giving up 40+ yard plays. Maybe I'm just sour because Ryan Clark was a true worker and now may not even get a chance to start with the Steelers (are they still trying to sign a safety??)

Hm, I don't think that's his problem to deal with. I think with the athleticism of Taylor, they don't mind him being the coverage safety.

Re: What move would you have not made if you were GM?

I chose AA solely on the basis of his contract. A little extra money from that contract may have landed us a better linebacker. I believe Randle El will be the new Brian Mitchell. Lloyd the new Gary Clark. Moss is ... Moss, of course.

Re: What move would you have not made if you were GM?

Randel El. 31 million for that guy is a bit too much. plus w/ Moss, Lloyd, Patten, cooley, Portis, I think you have enough options. Arch, Carter, were definate needs. Arch gives us better support on the run and pass that clark. clark was a gamer, but lets face it, arch is a huge upgrade. Carter, SACKS!!!!! all that needs to be said there.
