Re: New Tool Album coming 5/2
I can't wait. We're still gonna have to wait another week or two just to hear the first single off it.

Re: New Tool Album coming 5/2
If it's coming out 5/2 I'd assume it must be finished. It will probably leak 2 weeks or so before release, most albums do.

Re: New Tool Album coming 5/2
Sweet. I'm a huge Tool fan. Both Aenima and Lateralus are still in heavy rotation for me. Eulogy (track 2 off Aenima) might be the greatest song I've ever heard.
I hate how long it takes Tool to come out with a new album, they're almost like the Beastie Boys. But at least Maynard has an excuse, he alternates between Tool and Perfect Circle.

Radiohead and Tool are my two absolute favorites in all the land. And I've always felt that the only way to truly appreciate either one of them is to listen to them over and over and over and over. I'd write "over and over" a few more times, but I think you get the point. Both of those bands really are an acquired taste. Nobody listens to them for the first time and says hey, I think I like Tool, or hey I think I like Radiohead. They're the kind of groups you hear for the first time and you say, "what the shit is this crap I'm listening to?" Then you listen to it for a while and you're like, "wait a minute, this is pretty good." Then before you know it you can't bring yourself to take it out of the CD player. I think Tool is such an acquired taste because their songs are so long. It takes the average person a while to get used to listening to 8 minute songs after hearing 3.5 minute songs on the radio all the time. But Tool's songs seem to tell a story to me, and often they seem to paint an image in my head without even the use of lyrics. Like the title track off Aenema, track #13. "Some say a comet will fall from the sky. Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves. Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still. Followed by millions of dumbfounded dipshits. Some say the end is near. Some say we'll see armageddon soon. I certainly hope we will cuz I sure could use a vacation from this silly shit, stupid shit...One great big festering neon distraction, I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied. Learn to swim. Mom's gonna fix it all soon. Mom's coming 'round to put it back the way it ought to be..." Then the instrumentals that follow that I can't even begin to describe. But I can actually SEE the music in my head as if it's telling me a story, that the world really is coming to an end. It makes me feel like I really need to be preparing myself to swim to safety as if the world is about to end. Sounds bizarre, but that's exactly why they're such an acquired taste. I appreciate that for absolutely exceptional composing work. When you can take music and paint a picture in my head, you've done something exceptional. I can't wait for 10,000 days. Maynard never disappoints.

Re: New Tool Album coming 5/2
dislike PC (except for judas)... S.O.D. takes even longer to release albums (think spinal tap, but with musicians instead of actors).
