Redskins About to Sign Carter

http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/9300482

The Redskins are at it again, and this makes the second defensive signing. Defensive end/outside linebacker Andre Carter is schedule to fly to Washington and sign his brand new six-year, approximately $30 million contract.

(Strange that the article is date March 12 though, must be an oversight)

Re: Redskins About to Sign Carter

how do we have all this cap room to keep signing everyone to 6 year 30 mil deals? i read the article about how we could get 19 mil under the cap, but i haven't heard anything about anyone renogotiating or any other way to help us get a lot of cap space.

i don't see how this is possible

cause its backloaded. they all only count 3.5mill this year (2mill SB, 1.5base) or something similar.

so 19-26mill under cap to start (pushing problems back a couple years and hoping the cap increases fast enough to prevent problems), 14mill in contracts to the big 4, maybe 1.5-2mill for fauria, and we can still have plenty of room for CB #3 and possibly an LB or OL guy. whichever of the 3 left undone gets fixed in the draft.

I'd still bet OL.

It just means that in the next couple of years, guys whose contracts are up will not be able to be retained. You know, the Fred Smoots, Antonio Pierces ... Snyder can certainly bring 'em in. It's keeping them that's the problem.

Still, I think the signings we've seen are smart for the most part, and the front office is making the upgrades that this team desperately needed. My only problem with the moves we've made so far are losing the 3rd and 4th rounders for Brandon Lloyd.

No, no. Like I said, I think we're doing the things we have to do. And yes, it seems that "cap hell" is never able to creep up on us.

That's fine and dandy with me.
