WR Core Makeup
Many will be disappointed and many will be jubilant but this much is true, Taylor Jacobs future with the Redskins is nearing the end of its life-cycle, especially if the Redskins are still pursuing another receiver. Will Jacobs be the first WR cut or will it be Thrash or Patten?
When Taylor get the axe I'm planning on sending him a "Good Luck" card. Who in here will sigh it and what would you write on it?

Re: WR Core Makeup
Jacobs and Thrash. I have to think you give Patten a shot as the #3.
You heard it here first. Patten will have 800 yards as the #3 next year! I really like the Redskin wideouts right now. Now, one injury and you have '05 all over again. |

Re: WR Core Makeup
I'm surprised Jacobs wasn't axed already.
Thrash seems to be the most safe out of the bunch since he's a quality special teams guy. If we pick up Randle El then Patten could easily be on the bubble, but I doubt it. I could see our WRs looking like this in 2006: 1. Moss 2. Lloyd 3. Randle El 4. Patten 5. Thrash |

Not to mention that there'd still be Chris Cooley or Clinton Portis getting open. |

Re: WR Core Makeup
If they don't sign Randle El, then I think Antonio Brown stays as the #5 WR. Though he'll primarily serve as a KR. Unless they decide to keep 6 wide receivers in which case Brown (or maybe Farriss) becomes the #6 WR.

Re: WR Core Makeup
as matty said i cant believe he hasnt been cut yet. he was finally given a chance to prove he belongs in the NFL, but blew it completly. i personally think he doesnt have the mental balls to be at this level.

Re: WR Core Makeup
I was hoping the opposite. I thought Jacobs should've been given another chance. Since Patten was given $4 million or so in signing bonus it wouldn't be a good deal to release him this year. Jacobs lacks cofidence. Moss and Lloyd don't.

Re: WR Core Makeup
I think if we get Randel El, Patten becomes a cap casualty and Thrash stays on as a special teamer. Taylor gets another chance. we are gonna need the money.

Re: WR Core Makeup
i think trash, brown and jacobs may all go cause it'd save us 1.9mill. (brown is now ~500k with the new cba, jacobs can be dumped at anytime and treated as a post june 1 cut, saving 460k, and trash saves 875k).
2mill is a lot of money for zero return and could be used to get 1 player who isn't terrible. |
