Why has Washington continued to wear all white uniforms? Why do some fans have the exact same ritual, every week, on game day? Why do pitchers(baseball) never step on the baseline when they go to the mound? Sports superstition. Even if they don't believe in superstition, 95% of players and fans do think about them when it comes to sports.

If you think anything a fan does has any effect on the players of the game you are completely mistaken.

Re: My August pick to win it all!

I almost smacked my mom for taking a Skins ornament off the top of our X-mas tree before the last philly game because I put it up about an hour before the St. Louis game and we hadn't lost since. During the first half of that philly game I kept giving her dirty looks and she kept apologizing profusely like she was actually the reason that we were playing so poorly. Obviously the ornament had no impact on the game; just like the fact that I had to watch the game while wearing a tux as opposed to my normal Skins hat/fleece combo last week because I was at a wedding didn't matter.

I used to think the clothes I wore or the chair that I was sitting in or whatever affected the game but it really doesn't. The only lucky charm that this team needs is St. Gibbs, and I'm pretty sure he'll be there on Saturday.

This team makes its own luck, we're just witnesses...

Really? But I was positive that, by not stepping on the cracks between the tiles on my kitchen floor on game day, I was somehow giving Washington the extra edge they needed to win...

Most logical people realize that doing something, like wearing the same shirt every week during the game has no effect on the outcome of a football game that they happen to be watching. My point is, when it comes to sports, most of this logic goes out the window, which you can see many examples of, on this thread.

It does not matter. It just would have made a great thread for you to post right after the SB.

Re: My August pick to win it all!

I did the same thing at the Venetian in the first week of August. I put $10 down and got odds of 66-1. I'm hoping that one pans out!

My wife put $10 on the Colts and got 6.5-1. It's kind of funny to think that a Redskins-Colts super bowl is still a possibility at the divisional weekend.

Re: My August pick to win it all!

Dude, that hilarious!

My girlfriend did exactly the same thing for me back in August. $20 at 30-1.

At the time I just thought it was sweet of her to throw down $20.

Re: My August pick to win it all!

southpaw, you realize he's had this thing a lot longer than yesterday right? so posting a picture of it shouldn't matter cause it still exists in physical form regardless of the date :P
